It is therefore concluded that one who chants the holy name of the Lord should be understood to have performed all kinds of austerities and great sacrifices mentioned in the Vedas. He has already taken his bath in all the holy places of pilgrimage. He has studied all the Vedas, and he is actually an Āryan.

अतः यह निष्कर्ष निकलता है कि जो व्यक्ति भगवान के पवित्र नाम का कीर्तन करता है, उसे वेदों में वर्णित सभी प्रकार के तप और महान यज्ञ संपन्न करने वाला समझा जाना चाहिए। वह सभी तीर्थों में स्नान कर चुका है। उसने सभी वेदों का अध्ययन कर लिया है, और वह वास्तव में आर्य है।

If one wants to see Kṛṣṇa seated in his heart, he must first cleanse the heart, as prescribed by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu in His Śikṣāṣṭaka: ceto-darpaṇa-mārjanam. In this age, everyone’s heart is especially unclean, as confirmed in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam: hṛdy antaḥ-stho hy abhadrāṇi. To wash away all dirty things accumulated within the heart, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu advised everyone to chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra. The first result will be that the heart is cleansed (ceto-darpaṇa-mārjanam).

As stated in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, the incarnation in the Age of Kali is Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu, who spread the worship of Kṛṣṇa by the saṅkīrtana movement (congregational chanting of the holy names) and spread Kṛṣṇa consciousness throughout India.

We could chant the name constantly, we can taste the nectar of the holy name always if we are humble like a blade of grass, tolerant like a tree and devoid of false prestige offer all respect to others. If people live by these simple four principles, what a peaceful beautiful world this would be! To be humble, tolerant and offer all respect to others. If we have this spirit of being the servant of the servant of the servant, the Lord will be so pleased to reveal Himself when we chant the holy names.

यदि हम घास के तिनके के समान विनम्र, वृक्ष के समान सहनशील और मिथ्या प्रतिष्ठा से रहित होकर दूसरों को पूर्ण सम्मान प्रदान करें, तो हम निरंतर नाम जप सकते हैं, हम सदैव पवित्र नाम के अमृत का स्वाद ले सकते हैं। यदि लोग इन सरल चार सिद्धांतों का पालन करें, तो यह कितना शांतिपूर्ण और सुंदर संसार होगा! विनम्र, सहनशील बनें और दूसरों को पूर्ण सम्मान दें। यदि हममें सेवक के सेवक का सेवक होने का भाव है, तो जब हम पवित्र नामों का जप करेंगे, तो प्रभु प्रसन्न होकर स्वयं को प्रकट करेंगे।

If one does not have full faith in Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, he cannot properly chant and dance in the saṅkīrtana movement. Artificial chanting and dancing may be due to sentiments or sentimental agitation, but this cannot help one advance in Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

To serve a devotee, to chant the holy name according to a certain counting method, to worship the Deity, to hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam or Bhagavad-gītā from a realized person and to live in a sacred place where devotional service is not disturbed are the first out of sixty-four devotional activities for making progress in devotional service. One who has accepted these five chief activities is called a devotee.

भक्त की सेवा करना, एक निश्चित गणना पद्धति के अनुसार पवित्र नाम का जप करना, अर्चाविग्रह की पूजा करना, किसी सिद्ध पुरुष से श्रीमद्भागवत या भगवद्गीता का श्रवण करना तथा ऐसे पवित्र स्थान पर निवास करना जहाँ भक्ति में कोई विघ्न न पड़े, ये भक्ति में प्रगति करने के चौंसठ भक्ति कर्मों में से प्रथम हैं। जिसने इन पाँच प्रमुख कर्मों को स्वीकार कर लिया है, उसे भक्त कहते हैं।

Vedānta is the last word in Vedic wisdom, and the author and knower of the Vedānta philosophy is Lord Kṛṣṇa; and the highest Vedāntist is the great soul who takes pleasure in chanting the holy name of the Lord. That is the ultimate purpose of all Vedic mysticism.

. In the Age of Kali, the saṅkīrtana-yajña (the chanting of the names of God) is recommended by the Vedic scriptures, and this transcendental system was introduced by Lord Caitanya for the deliverance of all men in this age. Saṅkīrtana-yajña and Kṛṣṇa consciousness go well together.

knowledge in Kṛṣṇa consciousness can be achieved by a faithful person who believes firmly in Kṛṣṇa. One is called a faithful man who thinks that simply by acting in Kṛṣṇa consciousness he can attain the highest perfection. This faith is attained by the discharge of devotional service and by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare, which cleanses one’s heart of all material dirt. Over and above this, one should control the senses. A person who is faithful to Kṛṣṇa and who controls the senses can easily attain perfection in the knowledge of Kṛṣṇa consciousness without delay.

The process of chanting is herein authorized as the direct means of contacting the Supreme Absolute Truth the Personality of Godhead. Simply by chanting the Holy Name, Krishna, the soul is attracted by the Supreme Person, Krishna, for going home, back to Godhead.

When we’re trying to chant the holy name, the mind is wandering to so many ideas, so many thoughts, so many desires, so many aspirations which really means your mind is trying to deceive you to think that to fix its attention on something else will give you a greater value than keeping it in Krishna’s name. And this is how maya through our mind is stealing away our life moment by moment. When we understand with faith, the power and glory of Krishna’s name then only can we take shelter, otherwise our chanting is casual or perhaps ritualistic, inattentive.

जब हम पवित्र नाम जपने का प्रयास करते हैं, तो हमारा मन अनेक विचारों, अनेक विचारों, अनेक इच्छाओं, अनेक आकांक्षाओं में भटक रहा होता है, जिसका वास्तविक अर्थ है कि आपका मन आपको यह सोचने के लिए धोखा दे रहा है कि कृष्ण के नाम पर ध्यान लगाने की अपेक्षा किसी और चीज़ पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने से आपको अधिक लाभ होगा। और इस प्रकार हमारे मन के माध्यम से माया पल-पल हमारे जीवन को चुरा रही है। जब हम विश्वास के साथ कृष्ण के नाम की शक्ति और महिमा को समझते हैं, तभी हम उनकी शरण में जा सकते हैं, अन्यथा हमारा जप आकस्मिक या शायद कर्मकांडी, असावधान होता है।

When one takes to Kṛṣṇa consciousness and engages himself in the devotional service of the Lord — beginning with chanting and hearing the glories of the Lord — the cleansing of the heart begins. When the heart is actually cleansed, one can clearly see the Lord sitting there without any disturbance. In Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (9.4.68) the Lord confirms that He sits within the heart of the pure devotee: sādhavo hṛdayaṁ mahyaṁ sādhūnāṁ hṛdayaṁ tv aham.

जब कोई कृष्णभावनामृत धारण करता है और भगवान की भक्ति में लीन हो जाता है—कीर्तन और भगवान की महिमा श्रवण से आरंभ करते हुए—हृदय की शुद्धि आरंभ होती है। जब हृदय वास्तव में शुद्ध हो जाता है, तो व्यक्ति भगवान को बिना किसी विघ्न के वहाँ विराजमान देख सकता है। श्रीमद्भागवतम् (9.4.68) में भगवान पुष्टि करते हैं कि वे शुद्ध भक्त के हृदय में विराजमान हैं: साधवो हृदयं मह्यं साधूनां हृदयं त्व अहम्।

Caitanya Mahaprabhu chanted, Haridasa Thakura chanted 24 hours, all the Goswamis and Acaryas chanted, my Guru Maharaja chanted, and following all these footsteps we are also chanting. So they are authorized by disciplic succession, and all of us must chant at least 16 rounds daily to keep us fit on the Krishna Consciousness transcendental platform.

चैतन्य महाप्रभु ने जप किया, हरिदास ठाकुर ने 24 घंटे जप किया, सभी गोस्वामी और आचार्यों ने जप किया, मेरे गुरु महाराज ने जप किया, और इन सभी के पदचिन्हों पर चलते हुए हम भी जप कर रहे हैं। इसलिए वे शिष्य परंपरा द्वारा अधिकृत हैं, और हम सभी को कृष्णभावनामृत के दिव्य स्तर पर स्थिर रहने के लिए प्रतिदिन कम से कम 16 माला जप करना चाहिए।

Ultimately the goal is always remember Krishna but that is the positive and the prohibited activity—don’t forget Krishna. The positive is to always hear about Krishna, chant about Krishna, to associate with devotees who have similar attraction for hearing and chanting, develop a taste a genuine taste and attraction for sanga, association with those who actually are renounced.

अंततः लक्ष्य यही है कि कृष्ण को सदैव स्मरण रखें, लेकिन यही सकारात्मक और निषिद्ध क्रिया है—कृष्ण को न भूलें। सकारात्मक है कि सदैव कृष्ण के बारे में सुनें, कृष्ण का कीर्तन करें, ऐसे भक्तों की संगति करें जो श्रवण और कीर्तन के प्रति समान रूप से आकर्षित हों, और संग के प्रति वास्तविक रुचि और आकर्षण विकसित करें, उन लोगों की संगति करें जो वास्तव में त्यागी हैं।

Although Ṭhākura Haridāsa happened to take his birth in a Muslim family, he was elevated to the post of nāmācārya by Lord Caitanya due to his rigidly attended principle of chanting three hundred thousand holy names of the Lord daily: Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. And because he chanted the holy name of the Lord constantly, it is understood that in his previous life he must have passed through all the ritualistic methods of the Vedas, known as śabda-brahma. Unless, therefore, one is purified, one cannot take to the principles of Kṛṣṇa consciousness or become engaged in chanting the holy name of the Lord, Hare Kṛṣṇa.

If a devotee at all wants to cleanse his heart, he must chant and hear the glories of the Lord, Śrī Kṛṣṇa (śṛṇvatāṁ sva-kathāḥ kṛṣṇaḥ). This is a simple process. Kṛṣṇa Himself will help cleanse the heart because He is already seated there. Kṛṣṇa wants to continue living within the heart, and the Lord wants to give directions, but one has to keep his heart as clean as Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu kept the Guṇḍicā temple.

यदि कोई भक्त अपने हृदय को शुद्ध करना चाहता है, तो उसे भगवान श्री कृष्ण (श्रृण्वतां स्व-कथा: कृष्ण:) का कीर्तन और श्रवण करना चाहिए। यह एक सरल प्रक्रिया है। कृष्ण स्वयं हृदय को शुद्ध करने में सहायता करेंगे क्योंकि वे पहले से ही वहाँ विराजमान हैं। कृष्ण हृदय में निवास करते रहना चाहते हैं, और भगवान निर्देश देना चाहते हैं, लेकिन व्यक्ति को अपने हृदय को उतना ही शुद्ध रखना होगा जितना भगवान चैतन्य महाप्रभु ने गुंडिका मंदिर को रखा था।

The sixteen word Maha Mantra is nobody's invention. There are authorized mantras in the different Puranas which are Vedic authorities. Especially in the Kali Santara Upanisad it is stated that this sixteen word Maha Mantra is the Holy Name of the Supreme Brahma for the deliverance of the fallen souls.

Should not speak nonsense. That is renunciation. No gossip, no unnecessary criticism, no unnecessarily just talking about mundane events, no gramya katha and no inclination to hear those things. Not to speak gossip and not to hear it and to dress very simple and eat simple. To offer all respect to others, do not expect any in return. To constantly chant the names of Krishna and in one’s mind to worship Radha and Krishna. These are the principles of renunciation according to Lord Caitanya.

बकवास नहीं करनी चाहिए। यही त्याग है। कोई गपशप नहीं, कोई अनावश्यक आलोचना नहीं, सांसारिक घटनाओं के बारे में अनावश्यक बातें नहीं, कोई ग्राम्य कथा नहीं और न ही उन बातों को सुनने की इच्छा। न गपशप करना, न सुनना, और न ही सादा वस्त्र पहनना और सादा भोजन करना। दूसरों को पूरा सम्मान देना, बदले में किसी से कुछ पाने की अपेक्षा न रखना। निरंतर कृष्ण के नामों का जप करना और मन ही मन राधा और कृष्ण की आराधना करना। भगवान चैतन्य के अनुसार ये त्याग के सिद्धांत हैं।

The mahā-mantra, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare, can be chanted even within the abdomen of one’s mother. One can chant while sleeping, while working, while imprisoned in the womb or while outside. This Kṛṣṇa consciousness cannot be checked in any circumstance.

महामंत्र, हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे, का जाप माँ के गर्भ में भी किया जा सकता है। सोते हुए, काम करते हुए, गर्भ में रहते हुए या बाहर रहते हुए भी इसका जाप किया जा सकता है। इस कृष्णभावनामृत को किसी भी परिस्थिति में रोका नहीं जा सकता।

Please take this Krishna consciousness philosophy and the chanting of God’s name very, very seriously. This world is a very troubled place. There is only one real solution to purify our hearts and live in harmony with the love of God. So let us taste the nectar of Krishna prema and share that wonderful gift with others through the chanting of the Lord’s holy name.

कृपया इस कृष्णभावनामृत दर्शन और ईश्वर के नाम-जप को अत्यंत गंभीरता से लें। यह संसार अत्यंत अशांत है। अपने हृदय को शुद्ध करने और ईश्वर के प्रेम के साथ सामंजस्य बिठाने का केवल एक ही वास्तविक उपाय है। तो आइए, हम कृष्ण प्रेम के अमृत का स्वाद चखें और ईश्वर के पवित्र नाम-जप के माध्यम से उस अद्भुत उपहार को दूसरों के साथ बाँटें।

śṛṇvatāṁ sva-kathāḥ kṛṣṇaḥ puṇya-śravaṇa-kīrtanaḥ
hṛdy antaḥ-stho hy abhadrāṇi vidhunoti suhṛt satām
“Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Personality of Godhead, who is the Paramātmā [Supersoul] in everyone’s heart and the benefactor of the truthful devotee, cleanses desire for material enjoyment from the heart of the devotee who relishes His messages, which are in themselves virtuous when properly heard and chanted.”

श्रींवतं स्व-कथा: कृष्ण: पुण्य-श्रवण-कीर्तन:
हृद्य अन्त:स्थो ह्य अभद्राणि विधुनति सुहृत् सताम
“भगवान श्री कृष्ण, जो सबके हृदय में परमात्मा हैं और सच्चे भक्त के उपकारक हैं, अपने संदेशों का आनंद लेने वाले भक्त के हृदय से भौतिक भोग की इच्छा को दूर कर देते हैं, जो उचित रूप से सुनने और जपने पर स्वयं में पुण्यदायी होते हैं।”

In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (3.33.7), such disregard of Vedic rituals by the advanced transcendentalists is explained as follows:
“O my Lord! Persons who chant the holy names of Your Lordship are far, far advanced in spiritual life, even if born in families of dog-eaters. Such chanters have undoubtedly performed all kinds of austerities and sacrifices, bathed in all sacred places and finished all scriptural studies.”

श्रीमद्भागवतम् (3.33.7) में, उन्नत अध्यात्मवादियों द्वारा वैदिक अनुष्ठानों की ऐसी अवहेलना को इस प्रकार समझाया गया है:
“हे मेरे प्रभु! जो लोग आपके पवित्र नामों का जप करते हैं, वे आध्यात्मिक जीवन में बहुत आगे बढ़ जाते हैं, भले ही वे कुत्ते खाने वाले परिवारों में पैदा हुए हों। ऐसे जप करने वालों ने निस्संदेह सभी प्रकार की तपस्या और यज्ञ किए हैं, सभी पवित्र स्थानों में स्नान किया है और सभी शास्त्रों का अध्ययन पूरा किया है।”

Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu very mercifully reclaimed the fallen souls especially in this age by this short-cut method of chanting Hare Krishna Mantra.
By repeated chanting of this transcendental sound vibration, dirty things in the materialistic mind become cleansed. The dirty things in the materialistic mind are the modes of passion and ignorance. When the modes of passion and ignorance come in, although the process of cleansing is not yet completed the modes of goodness become prominent. This means that the propensity of being lusty and greedy diminishes and one can be fixed up in the devotional service of the Lord. When one is fixed up in the modes of goodness and devotional service of the Lord, he can factually understand his constitutional position, and that is his liberation.

भगवान चैतन्य महाप्रभु ने अत्यंत दयालुतापूर्वक पतित आत्माओं को, विशेष रूप से इस युग में, हरे कृष्ण मंत्र के जाप की इस लघु-पथ विधि द्वारा पुनः प्राप्त किया।
इस दिव्य ध्वनि स्पंदन के बार-बार जाप से, भौतिकवादी मन की मलिनताएँ शुद्ध हो जाती हैं। भौतिकवादी मन की मलिनताएँ रजोगुण और तमोगुण हैं। जब रजोगुण और तमोगुण आते हैं, यद्यपि शुद्धिकरण की प्रक्रिया अभी पूरी नहीं हुई होती, तब भी सतोगुण प्रबल हो जाते हैं। इसका अर्थ है कि काम और लोभ की प्रवृत्ति कम हो जाती है और व्यक्ति भगवान की भक्ति में स्थिर हो सकता है। जब व्यक्ति सतोगुण और भगवान की भक्ति में स्थिर हो जाता है, तो वह वास्तव में अपनी स्वाभाविक स्थिति को समझ सकता है, और यही उसकी मुक्ति है।

The easiest way to control the mind, as suggested by Lord Caitanya, is chanting “Hare Kṛṣṇa,” the great mantra for deliverance, in all humility. The method prescribed is sa vai manaḥ kṛṣṇa-padāravindayoḥ: one must engage one’s mind fully in Kṛṣṇa. Only then will there remain no other engagements to agitate the mind.

भगवान चैतन्य द्वारा सुझाए गए मन को नियंत्रित करने का सबसे सरल उपाय है, पूर्ण विनम्रता के साथ मोक्ष प्राप्ति के महामंत्र "हरे कृष्ण" का जप करना। विधि इस प्रकार है: स वै मनः कृष्ण-पदारविन्दयोः: अर्थात व्यक्ति को अपने मन को पूर्णतः कृष्ण में लगाना चाहिए। तभी मन को विचलित करने वाली कोई अन्य क्रिया शेष नहीं रहेगी।

The only way suffering can be mitigated is by Kṛṣṇa consciousness. When one takes to Kṛṣṇa consciousness and engages himself in the devotional service of the Lord — beginning with chanting and hearing the glories of the Lord — the cleansing of the heart begins. When the heart is actually cleansed, one can clearly see the Lord sitting there without any disturbance.

दुःखों का निवारण केवल कृष्णभावनामृत द्वारा ही संभव है। जब कोई कृष्णभावनामृत को अपनाता है और भगवान की भक्ति में लीन हो जाता है—भगवान के कीर्तन और उनकी महिमा के श्रवण से आरंभ करते हुए—हृदय की शुद्धि आरंभ होती है। जब हृदय वास्तव में शुद्ध हो जाता है, तो व्यक्ति भगवान को बिना किसी विघ्न के स्पष्ट रूप से वहाँ विराजमान देख सकता है।

Without being unnecessarily agitated, if we take to the process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness by constantly chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare, the cycle of birth and death can be stopped for good.

The name of Krishna is incarnated in the age of Kali to deliver all living beings. ‘Golokera prema-dhana, hari-näma-saìkértana,’ the name of Krishna has descended from the highest abode of the spiritual world, Goloka. Krishnas’ pastime, Krishna’s form, Krishna’s abode are all revealed to one who sincerely chants the names.

कृष्ण का नाम कलियुग में सभी जीवों का उद्धार करने के लिए अवतरित हुआ है। 'गोलोकेर प्रेम-धन, हरि-नाम-संकेर्तन', कृष्ण का नाम आध्यात्मिक जगत के सर्वोच्च धाम, गोलोक से अवतरित हुआ है। कृष्ण की लीलाएँ, कृष्ण का रूप, कृष्ण का धाम, ये सभी उस व्यक्ति को प्रकट होते हैं जो सच्चे मन से इन नामों का जप करता है।

"In this age of quarrel and hypocrisy the only means of deliverance is chanting the holy name of the Lord. There is no other way. There is no other way. There is no other way."

Kṛṣṇa wants to continue living within the heart, and the Lord wants to give directions, but one has to keep his heart as clean as Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu kept the Guṇḍichatemple.

यदि कोई भक्त अपने हृदय को शुद्ध करना चाहता है, तो उसे भगवान श्री कृष्ण (श्रृण्वतां स्वकथा: कृष्ण:) का कीर्तन और श्रवण करना चाहिए। यह एक सरल प्रक्रिया है। कृष्ण स्वयं हृदय को शुद्ध करने में सहायता करेंगे क्योंकि वे पहले से ही वहाँ विराजमान हैं। कृष्ण हृदय में निवास करते रहना चाहते हैं, और भगवान निर्देश देना चाहते हैं, लेकिन व्यक्ति को अपने हृदय को उतना ही शुद्ध रखना होगा जितना भगवान चैतन्य महाप्रभु ने गुंडिचा मंदिर को रखा था।

One may have a very nice tongue that can vibrate sound like the frogs, but that kind of vibration is simply calling death. The best use of the tongue and of sound vibration is to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. That will protect one from the hands of cruel death.

किसी की जीभ बहुत अच्छी हो सकती है जो मेंढकों जैसी आवाज़ निकाल सकती है, लेकिन उस तरह का कंपन तो बस मौत को बुलावा देना है। जीभ और ध्वनि कंपन का सबसे अच्छा उपयोग हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का जाप करना है। यह क्रूर मृत्यु के हाथों से रक्षा करेगा।

In this age, simply by chanting the holy name of God one can reach all perfection. We are not introducing this chanting system by our mental concoction, to make things very easy. No, Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu introduced this process of transcendental meditation five hundred years ago.

इस युग में, केवल भगवान के पवित्र नाम के जाप से ही व्यक्ति पूर्ण सिद्धि प्राप्त कर सकता है। हम इस जाप पद्धति को अपनी मानसिक कल्पना से, चीज़ों को बहुत आसान बनाने के लिए नहीं शुरू कर रहे हैं। नहीं, भगवान चैतन्य महाप्रभु ने पाँच सौ साल पहले इस पारलौकिक ध्यान की प्रक्रिया शुरू की थी।

in the Bṛhan-nāradīya Purāṇa it is said that in Kali-yuga (the present yuga, or age), when people in general are short-lived, slow in spiritual realization and always disturbed by various anxieties, the best means of spiritual realization is chanting the holy name of the Lord.

“Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Personality of Godhead, who is the Paramātmā [Supersoul] in everyone’s heart and the benefactor of the truthful devotee, cleanses desire for material enjoyment from the heart of the devotee who relishes His messages, which are in themselves virtuous when properly heard and chanted.” - Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (1.2.17)

"भगवान श्री कृष्ण, जो सबके हृदय में परमात्मा हैं और सच्चे भक्तों के हितैषी हैं, वे अपने संदेशों का आनंद लेने वाले भक्त के हृदय से भौतिक भोग की इच्छा को दूर कर देते हैं, जो उचित रूप से सुनने और कीर्तन करने पर स्वयं में पुण्यदायी होते हैं।" - श्रीमद्भागवतम् (1.2.17)

In this age, chanting of Hare Krishna Mantra is the prime business of the devotee, and preaching of this Hare Krishna Mantra by outdoor Sankirtana and propagation of literature is our more important business. Side by side, Deity worship is recommended, but when there is a question of accepting one of them, we shall prefer to accept chanting of Hare Krishna Mantra first.

इस युग में, हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का जप भक्त का प्रमुख कार्य है, और बाह्य संकीर्तन तथा साहित्य के प्रचार द्वारा इस हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का प्रचार करना हमारा अधिक महत्वपूर्ण कार्य है। इसके साथ ही, देव-पूजा की भी अनुशंसा की जाती है, लेकिन जब इनमें से किसी एक को स्वीकार करने का प्रश्न हो, तो हम पहले हरे कृष्ण मंत्र के जप को स्वीकार करना पसंद करेंगे।

Yes, Kali-yuga is an ocean of faults but there is one benediction—simply chanting the holy name of Krishna one can attain the supreme perfection of liberation. How is that possible? ‘näma chintamani Krsna caitanya-rasa-vigraha,’ because the name of Krishna is non-different than Krishna, it is touch stone.

In the Narada Pancaratra it is stated that all the Vedic rituals, Mantras and understanding are compressed into the eight words; Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare. Similarly, in the Kalisantra Upanisad it is stated that these sixteen words Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare are especially meant for counteracting the degrading and contaminating influence of this materialistic age of Kali.

नारद पंचरात्र में कहा गया है कि सभी वैदिक अनुष्ठान, मंत्र और ज्ञान आठ शब्दों में समाहित हैं: हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे। इसी प्रकार, कलितंत्र उपनिषद में कहा गया है कि ये सोलह शब्द - हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे, हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे - विशेष रूप से इस भौतिकवादी कलियुग के पतनकारी और दूषित प्रभाव का प्रतिकार करने के लिए हैं।

In this age, everyone’s heart is especially unclean, as confirmed in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam: hṛdy antaḥ-stho hy abhadrāṇi. To wash away all dirty things accumulated within the heart, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu advised everyone to chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra. The first result will be that the heart is cleansed (ceto-darpaṇa-mārjanam).

When Lord Caitanya was asked by a great Vedic scholar, Prakāśānanda Sarasvatī, why He, the Lord, was chanting the holy name of the Lord like a sentimentalist instead of studying Vedānta philosophy, the Lord replied that His spiritual master had found Him to be a great fool and thus asked Him to chant the holy name of Lord Kṛṣṇa.

जब भगवान चैतन्य से एक महान वैदिक विद्वान प्रकाशानंद सरस्वती ने पूछा कि वे, भगवान, वेदांत दर्शन का अध्ययन करने के बजाय एक भावुक व्यक्ति की तरह भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप क्यों कर रहे हैं, तो भगवान ने उत्तर दिया कि उनके आध्यात्मिक गुरु ने उन्हें एक महान मूर्ख पाया है और इसलिए उन्हें भगवान कृष्ण के पवित्र नाम का जप करने के लिए कहा है।

In Krishna Consciousness, by chanting the Hare Krishna Mantra, we immediately fix our mind upon Krishna's Name, which is exactly identical to Krishna Himself, and Krishna is the source of Lord Visnu. So one who has taken fully to Krishna Consciousness must be accepted as having surpassed all of the perfections obtained in other yoga processes.

कृष्णभावनामृत में, हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का जाप करके, हम तुरंत अपना मन कृष्ण के नाम पर केंद्रित कर देते हैं, जो स्वयं कृष्ण के समान ही है, और कृष्ण ही भगवान विष्णु के मूल हैं। इसलिए, जिसने कृष्णभावनामृत को पूर्णतः अपना लिया है, उसे अन्य योग प्रक्रियाओं द्वारा प्राप्त सभी सिद्धियों से आगे निकल जाने वाला मान लिया जाना चाहिए।

It is especially mentioned here, nāma-saṅkīrtanāc ca: one should chant the holy names of the Lord — Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare — either individually or with others. Lord Caitanya has given special stress to chanting of these holy names of the Lord as the basic principle of spiritual advancement.

यहाँ विशेष रूप से उल्लेख किया गया है, नाम-संकीर्तनच: व्यक्ति को भगवान के पवित्र नामों का जप करना चाहिए - हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे / हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे - चाहे अकेले में या दूसरों के साथ। भगवान चैतन्य ने आध्यात्मिक उन्नति के मूल सिद्धांत के रूप में भगवान के इन पवित्र नामों के जप पर विशेष बल दिया है।

the laws of material nature are so stringent that in spite of all attempts for enjoyment, the living entity in the material world must always come to the platform of suffering. This chanting of the Hare Krishna Mantra is especially recommended for chanting in this age of Kali yuga so that any sincere soul who takes to it will very soon regain his memory of being the transcendental loving servitor of the Lord, or Krishna.

भौतिक प्रकृति के नियम इतने कठोर हैं कि भोग के सभी प्रयासों के बावजूद, भौतिक जगत में जीव को सदैव दुःख की स्थिति में आना ही पड़ता है। हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का यह जप इस कलियुग में विशेष रूप से जपने की सलाह दी जाती है ताकि कोई भी निष्कपट आत्मा जो इसे अपनाए, उसे शीघ्र ही भगवान, या कृष्ण का दिव्य प्रेममय सेवक होने की स्मृति पुनः प्राप्त हो जाए।

A devotee should always try to hear about spiritual matters and should always utilize his time in chanting the holy name of the Lord. His behavior should always be straightforward and simple, and although he is not envious but friendly to everyone, he should avoid the company of persons who are not spiritually advanced.

भक्त को सदैव आध्यात्मिक विषयों के बारे में सुनने का प्रयास करना चाहिए और अपना समय भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप करने में लगाना चाहिए। उसका आचरण सदैव सीधा और सरल होना चाहिए, और यद्यपि वह ईर्ष्यालु न होकर सभी के प्रति मैत्रीपूर्ण व्यवहार रखता हो, फिर भी उसे उन लोगों की संगति से बचना चाहिए जो आध्यात्मिक रूप से उन्नत नहीं हैं।

What in previous yugas was so very, very difficult to achieve, can easily be attained in the age of Kali by Lord Caitanya’s mercy by simply chanting the holy names. But the people of Kali are so unfortunate and so fallen that even the simplest, easiest, most sublime of all processes is difficult for us

पिछले युगों में जो प्राप्त करना अत्यंत कठिन था, कलियुग में भगवान चैतन्य की कृपा से केवल पवित्र नामों के जाप से उसे आसानी से प्राप्त किया जा सकता है। लेकिन कलियुग के लोग इतने अभागे और पतित हैं कि हमारे लिए सबसे सरल, सहज और सबसे उत्कृष्ट प्रक्रिया भी कठिन है।

In the Age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the name of Kṛṣṇa. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Kṛṣṇa Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons and confidential companions.’

In this present day, people are very much eager to have one scripture, one God, one religion and one occupation. Therefore, ekaṁ śāstraṁ devakī-putra-gītam: let there be one scripture only, one common scripture for the whole world – Bhagavad-gītā. Eko devo devakī-putra eva: let there be one God for the whole world – Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Eko mantras tasya nāmāni: and one hymn, one mantra, one prayer – the chanting of His name: Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. Karmāpy ekaṁ tasya devasya sevā: and let there be one work only – the service of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

आजकल लोग एक ही शास्त्र, एक ही ईश्वर, एक ही धर्म और एक ही व्यवसाय के लिए बहुत उत्सुक हैं। इसलिए, एकम् शास्त्रं देवकी-पुत्र-गीताम्: पूरे विश्व के लिए एक ही शास्त्र, एक ही सामान्य शास्त्र हो - भगवद्गीता। एको देवो देवकी-पुत्र एव: पूरे विश्व के लिए एक ही ईश्वर हो - श्री कृष्ण। एको मंत्र: तस्य नामानि: और एक ही स्तोत्र, एक ही मंत्र, एक ही प्रार्थना - उनके नाम का जाप: हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे। कर्मप्य एकं तस्य देवस्य सेवा: और केवल एक ही कार्य हो - भगवान की सेवा।

In this Age of Kali, as recommended here in the Caitanya-caritāmṛta (text 98), kali-kāle dharma — kṛṣṇa-nāma- saṅkīrtana: the chanting of the holy name of the Lord is the method of religion approved by all Vedic scriptures. In the next text of the Caitanya-caritāmṛta, quoted from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (11.5.32), this principle is further stressed.

“One should chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking oneself lower than the straw in the street; one should be more tolerant than a tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige and should be ready to offer all respect to others. In such a state of mind one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly.” Unless one is meek and humble, to make progress in spiritual life is very difficult.

"मनुष्य को विनम्र भाव से भगवान का पवित्र नाम जपना चाहिए, स्वयं को सड़क के तिनके से भी तुच्छ समझना चाहिए; उसे वृक्ष से भी अधिक सहनशील होना चाहिए, मिथ्या प्रतिष्ठा की भावना से रहित होना चाहिए और दूसरों को पूरा सम्मान देने के लिए तत्पर रहना चाहिए। ऐसी मनःस्थिति में व्यक्ति निरंतर भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप कर सकता है।" जब तक व्यक्ति विनम्र और नम्र न हो, आध्यात्मिक जीवन में प्रगति करना बहुत कठिन है।

the Lord has descended upon this earth five hundred years ago as Lord Caitanya to encourage the process among all men of chanting the Holy Names of God, the Hare Krishna Mantra. This chanting will immediately captivate the hearts and minds of all sincere souls, and therefore it is the prime benediction for the most fallen souls of the age of Kali Yuga.

भगवान पाँच सौ वर्ष पूर्व इस पृथ्वी पर भगवान चैतन्य के रूप में अवतरित हुए थे ताकि सभी मनुष्यों में भगवान के पवित्र नामों, हरे कृष्ण मंत्र के जप की प्रक्रिया को प्रोत्साहित किया जा सके। यह जप सभी निष्कपट आत्माओं के हृदय और मन को तुरंत मोहित कर लेगा, और इसलिए यह कलियुग की सबसे पतित आत्माओं के लिए भी सर्वोच्च वरदान है।

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu recited the following verse: “ ‘My dear Lord, one who always keeps Your holy name on his tongue becomes greater than an initiated brāhmaṇa. Although he may be born in a family of dog-eaters and therefore by material calculation may be the lowest among men, he is still glorious. This is the wonderful effect of chanting the holy name of the Lord.

श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु ने निम्नलिखित श्लोक का पाठ किया: "हे प्रभु, जो व्यक्ति सदैव आपके पवित्र नाम को अपनी वाणी पर धारण करता है, वह दीक्षित ब्राह्मण से भी महान हो जाता है। भले ही वह कुत्ते खाने वाले कुल में जन्मा हो और भौतिक दृष्टि से मनुष्यों में सबसे नीचा हो, फिर भी वह यशस्वी है। भगवान के पवित्र नाम के जप का यही अद्भुत प्रभाव है।

It is therefore concluded that one who chants the holy name of the Lord should be understood to have performed all kinds of austerities and great sacrifices mentioned in the Vedas. He has already taken his bath in all the holy places of pilgrimage. He has studied all the Vedas, and he is actually an Āryan.’ 

अतः यह निष्कर्ष निकलता है कि जो व्यक्ति भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप करता है, उसे वेदों में वर्णित सभी प्रकार के तप और महान यज्ञ संपन्न करने वाला समझा जाना चाहिए। वह सभी तीर्थों में स्नान कर चुका है। उसने सभी वेदों का अध्ययन कर लिया है, और वह वास्तव में आर्य है।'

Practicing the yoga system of exercise and breath control is very difficult for a person in this age, and therefore Lord Caitanya recommended, kīrtanīyaḥ sadā hariḥ: one should always chant the holy name of the Supreme Lord, Kṛṣṇa, because Kṛṣṇa is the most suitable name of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The name Kṛṣṇa and the Supreme Person Kṛṣṇa are nondifferent. Therefore, if one concentrates his mind on hearing and chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, the same result is achieved.

इस युग में व्यायाम और श्वास-नियंत्रण की योग पद्धति का अभ्यास करना व्यक्ति के लिए अत्यंत कठिन है, इसलिए भगवान चैतन्य ने सुझाव दिया है, "कीर्तनीय: सदा हरि:" अर्थात व्यक्ति को सदैव परम भगवान कृष्ण के पवित्र नाम का जप करना चाहिए, क्योंकि कृष्ण भगवान के लिए सर्वाधिक उपयुक्त नाम है। कृष्ण नाम और परम पुरुष कृष्ण एक दूसरे से अभिन्न हैं। अतः यदि कोई हरे कृष्ण के श्रवण और जप पर अपना मन एकाग्र करता है, तो उसे वही फल प्राप्त होता है।

“O my Lord, a person who is chanting Your holy name, although born of a low family like that of a caṇḍāla [dog-eater], is situated on the highest platform of self-realization. Such a person must have performed all kinds of penances and sacrifices according to Vedic rituals and studied the Vedic literatures many, many times after taking his bath in all the holy places of pilgrimage. Such a person is considered to be the best of the Āryan family.” SB 3.33.7

"हे प्रभु! जो व्यक्ति आपके पवित्र नाम का जप करता है, वह चाण्डाल (कुत्ते खाने वाले) जैसे निम्न कुल में उत्पन्न होने पर भी आत्म-साक्षात्कार के सर्वोच्च पद पर स्थित होता है। ऐसे व्यक्ति ने वैदिक अनुष्ठानों के अनुसार सभी प्रकार के तप और यज्ञ किए होंगे तथा सभी पवित्र तीर्थस्थानों में स्नान करने के पश्चात वैदिक साहित्य का अनेक बार अध्ययन किया होगा। ऐसा व्यक्ति आर्य कुल में सर्वश्रेष्ठ माना जाता है।" श्रीमद्भागवतम् 3.33.7

When we begin this sublime chanting process, or even if we simply hear the sound Hare Krishna, then we have begun our journey back to the Spiritual Kingdom, back to Godhead. So please continue to be serious in your chanting, and then surely Krishna will save you and all the other sincere souls who are so fortunate to have taken to this movement.

Regarding your last question about the ecstatic symptoms of chanting Hare Krishna, you should know that the Hare Krishna Mantra has an equal effect upon all devotees. Just like the sunshine has an equal effect on everyone, but when it is covered, the sunshine has a different effect. Similarly, the influence of the Hare Krishna Mantra becomes manifest when one is no longer covered by the ten offenses to chanting.

When we chant the holy names, we are begging Krishna for service. So, Krishna gives us service. You must have been chanting quite sincerely when you were a student. Now you have so much service. Krishna is happy with your service. But avoid offences and continue striving to chant as a primary priority of life.

जब हम पवित्र नामों का जाप करते हैं, तो हम कृष्ण से सेवा की याचना करते हैं। इसलिए कृष्ण हमें सेवा प्रदान करते हैं। जब आप विद्यार्थी थे, तब आपने बहुत निष्ठा से नामजप किया होगा। अब आपके पास इतनी सेवा है। कृष्ण आपकी सेवा से प्रसन्न हैं। लेकिन अपराधों से बचें और जीवन की प्राथमिकता के रूप में नामजप करने का प्रयास करते रहें।

Krsna knows exactly what you need as a devotee, you may be facing a terrible problem, and then you take shelter of Krsna, and then He makes the problem worse, and then you take shelter of Krsna more, and not only does that problem become worse but He puts ten more problems, even worse on you. He may do that, it’s just what we need. He may want you to really not just physically be on your knees, but really in your hearts of hearts, Krsna I am yours, not just Krsna I am yours Krsna I am yours, from the heart, not that we just chant Hare Krsna to get our round done, we chant hare krsna because there is no other way, there is no other place to turn hare Krsna, and then this way we become strong.

By the statement of Prahlāda Mahārāja it is clearly understood that one who takes pleasure in chanting and hearing the transcendental glories of the Lord has already surpassed all kinds of material benedictions, including the results of pious fruitive activities, sacrifices and even liberation from material bondage.

प्रह्लाद महाराज के कथन से यह स्पष्ट रूप से समझा जा सकता है कि जो व्यक्ति भगवान की दिव्य महिमा का कीर्तन करने तथा सुनने में आनंद लेता है, वह पहले ही सभी प्रकार के भौतिक वरदानों को पार कर चुका है, जिनमें पुण्य कर्मों के फल, यज्ञ तथा यहाँ तक कि भवबन्धन से मुक्ति भी शामिल है।

For example, it may be said that one should chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra at least one hundred thousand times daily on his beads. But if this is not possible, then one must minimize his chanting according to his own capacity. Generally, we recommend our disciples to chant at least sixteen rounds on their japa beads daily, and this should be completed.

When we chant His name with devotion, then Kṛṣṇa is with us, and when Kṛṣṇa is with us, then what is the possibility of remaining impure? Consequently, one absorbed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, in chanting the names of Kṛṣṇa and serving Him always, receives the benefit of the highest form of yoga.

“ ‘In the Age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the name of Kṛṣṇa. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Kṛṣṇa Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons and confidential companions.’ ”

"कलियुग में, बुद्धिमान लोग भगवान के उस अवतार की पूजा करने के लिए सामूहिक जप करते हैं जो निरंतर कृष्ण नाम का कीर्तन करते हैं। यद्यपि उनका रंग श्याम वर्ण का नहीं है, फिर भी वे स्वयं कृष्ण हैं। उनके साथ उनके सहयोगी, सेवक, शस्त्र और गोपनीय साथी होते हैं।"

Lord Kṛṣṇa’s instructions to Arjuna to “remember Me” and Lord Caitanya’s injunction to “always chant the names of Lord Kṛṣṇa” are the same instruction. There is no difference, because Kṛṣṇa and Kṛṣṇa’s name are nondifferent. In the absolute status there is no difference between reference and referrent.

भगवान कृष्ण द्वारा अर्जुन को "मुझे स्मरण करो" का निर्देश और भगवान चैतन्य द्वारा "सदैव भगवान कृष्ण के नामों का जप करो" का आदेश एक ही निर्देश है। इनमें कोई अंतर नहीं है, क्योंकि कृष्ण और कृष्ण का नाम एक-दूसरे से अभिन्न हैं। परम स्थिति में संदर्भ और संदर्भ में कोई अंतर नहीं है।

I am so pleased to note that you are chanting nicely and that Krishna is encouraging you in so many ways. This is the actual position that if we are sincerely chanting our rounds, following the prescribed regulative principles, and avoiding the ten offenses, then very quickly Krishna sees our efforts and He gives all encouragement to such sincere soul.

Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, He prophesized that in every town and village the names of Krishna will be chanted. Nityananda Prabhu, when He saw Lord Chaitanya in a little village near Puri getting thousands of people to participate in Kirtan, He had that same prediction that in every town and village throughout the world the Holy Names will be chanted.

श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु ने भविष्यवाणी की थी कि हर शहर और गाँव में कृष्ण के नामों का जाप किया जाएगा। नित्यानंद प्रभु ने जब पुरी के पास एक छोटे से गाँव में भगवान चैतन्य को हज़ारों लोगों को कीर्तन में भाग लेते देखा, तो उन्होंने भी यही भविष्यवाणी की थी कि दुनिया भर के हर शहर और गाँव में पवित्र नामों का जाप किया जाएगा।

The best sacrifice recommended in this age is called saṅkīrtana-yajña. This saṅkīrtana-yajña, the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare, is the best and most inexpensive sacrifice; everyone can adopt it and derive benefit.

इस युग में अनुशंसित सर्वोत्तम यज्ञ को संकीर्तन-यज्ञ कहा जाता है। यह संकीर्तन-यज्ञ, अर्थात् हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का जप, सर्वोत्तम तथा सर्वाधिक सस्ता यज्ञ है; इसे कोई भी अपना सकता है और लाभ उठा सकता है।

I've seen many sadhus who say "Worship the impersonal. He is present everywhere". Such sadhus never chant Krishna's name. They usually keep chanting "Om Om"". If someone chants Krishna's name they say "Oh, he is preaching his sampradaya". Whatever they may say, Lord Chaitanya says that a devotee of Krishna is better than millions and millions of such liberated sadhus.

मैंने कई साधुओं को देखा है जो कहते हैं, "निर्विशेष की पूजा करो। वह सर्वत्र विद्यमान है।" ऐसे साधु कभी कृष्ण का नाम नहीं जपते। वे आमतौर पर "ॐ ॐ" जपते रहते हैं। अगर कोई कृष्ण का नाम जपता है, तो वे कहते हैं, "ओह, वह अपने संप्रदाय का प्रचार कर रहे हैं।" वे चाहे जो भी कहें, भगवान चैतन्य कहते हैं कि कृष्ण का एक भक्त ऐसे लाखों-करोड़ों मुक्त साधुओं से श्रेष्ठ है।

It’s for this reason that our beloved Guru maharaj, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad gave us this most simple and sublime instruction which is the conclusion of all knowledge of all the Vedas and what was that? Chant Hare Krishna and be happy. nama–sankirtana myasya sarva–papa–pranasanam – Vyas Dev concludes the SrimadBhagavatam with this verse, that all sins which are the cause of all pain can be removed by simply chanting the holy names.

यही कारण है कि हमारे प्रिय गुरु महाराज, परम कृपालु ए.सी. भक्तिवेदांत स्वामी प्रभुपाद ने हमें यह सबसे सरल और उदात्त निर्देश दिया जो सभी वेदों के ज्ञान का निष्कर्ष है और वह क्या था? हरे कृष्ण का जाप करो और खुश रहो। नाम-संकीर्तनम्यस्यसर्व-पाप-प्राणासनम् - व्यास देव इस श्लोक के साथ श्रीमद्भागवतम् का समापन करते हैं, कि सभी पाप जो सभी दर्द का कारण हैं, केवल पवित्र नामों के जाप से दूर हो सकते हैं।

Kṛṣṇa and the sound vibration “Kṛṣṇa” are nondifferent, so if one loudly vibrates Hare Kṛṣṇa, he will be able to think of Kṛṣṇa immediately. This process of chanting is the best process of self-realization in this age; therefore Lord Caitanya preached it so nicely for the benefit of all humanity.

कृष्ण और "कृष्ण" ध्वनि कंपन अभिन्न हैं, इसलिए यदि कोई ऊँची आवाज़ में हरे कृष्ण का उच्चारण करे, तो वह तुरंत कृष्ण का चिंतन कर सकेगा। जप की यह प्रक्रिया इस युग में आत्म-साक्षात्कार की सर्वोत्तम प्रक्रिया है; इसीलिए भगवान चैतन्य ने समस्त मानवता के कल्याण के लिए इसका इतना सुंदर प्रचार किया।

Sometimes a question is asked that if the devotee have to chant only for a few hours every day, why do they roam around all the time with their bead-bags around their necks ? This is exactly like the behaviour of a soldier. A soldier goes about everywhere carrying a heavy gun with him. This is because he does not know when a war will begin and he will have to use his weapon. Similarly, devotees know that a war with maya can begin at any time and hence they always keep their best weapon with them.

कभी-कभी यह प्रश्न पूछा जाता है कि यदि भक्तों को प्रतिदिन केवल कुछ घंटे ही जप करना है, तो वे हर समय गले में मालाएँ लटकाए क्यों घूमते रहते हैं? यह बिल्कुल एक सैनिक के व्यवहार जैसा है। एक सैनिक अपने साथ एक भारी बंदूक लेकर हर जगह घूमता है। ऐसा इसलिए क्योंकि उसे नहीं पता कि कब युद्ध शुरू हो जाए और उसे अपना हथियार चलाना पड़े। इसी प्रकार, भक्तों को पता है कि माया से युद्ध कभी भी शुरू हो सकता है, इसलिए वे हमेशा अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ हथियार अपने पास रखते हैं।

Draupadi cried out, ‘He Krishna, He Govinda’. When she called out the names of Govinda, she raised her arms just like we raise our arms or as we should raise our arms; in that spirit in that mood, we should cry out as our only shelter realizing our helpless condition ‘He Krishna, He Govinda!!’. This is the spirit we should endeavor to cultivate when we chant the holy names, both in japa as well as in kirtan, to take shelter of the holy names.

द्रौपदी ने पुकारा, 'हे कृष्ण, हे गोविंदा!' जब उन्होंने गोविंदा का नाम पुकारा, तो उन्होंने अपनी भुजाएँ ठीक वैसे ही उठाईं जैसे हम अपनी भुजाएँ उठाते हैं या जैसे हमें उठानी चाहिए; उसी भावना और उसी भाव में, हमें अपनी असहाय स्थिति को समझते हुए, अपने एकमात्र आश्रय के रूप में पुकारना चाहिए, 'हे कृष्ण, हे गोविंदा!'। यही वह भावना है जिसे हमें पवित्र नामों का जप करते समय, जप और कीर्तन दोनों में, पवित्र नामों का आश्रय लेने के लिए विकसित करने का प्रयास करना चाहिए।

One should train the members of his family in this way. The family members can sit down morning and evening and chant together Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. If one can mold his family life in this way to develop Kṛṣṇa consciousness, following these four principles, then there is no need to change from family life to renounced life

व्यक्ति को अपने परिवार के सदस्यों को इस प्रकार प्रशिक्षित करना चाहिए। परिवार के सदस्य सुबह-शाम एक साथ बैठकर हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का जाप कर सकते हैं। यदि कोई इन चार सिद्धांतों का पालन करते हुए, कृष्णभावनामृत विकसित करने के लिए अपने पारिवारिक जीवन को इस प्रकार ढाल सके, तो उसे पारिवारिक जीवन से संन्यास जीवन में जाने की आवश्यकता नहीं है।

In Kali-yuga the injunction is that no one should accept sannyāsa. Of course, those who actually follow the rules and regulations must take sannyāsa. Generally, however, people are unable to accept sannyāsa life, and therefore Caitanya Mahāprabhu stressed, kalau nāsty eva nāsty eva nasty eva gatir anyathā. In this age there is no other alternative, no other alternative, no other alternative than to chant the holy name of the Lord: Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare.

Regarding Jadurani's question, hearing the vibration of Hare Krishna automatically reminds one of Krishna's Pastimes. So both of them arise simultaneously in the mind when one is sincerely chanting. So you cannot make any distinction between listening to the sound and thinking of the Pastimes. But the process is to hear, and then Krishna's Pastimes, Form, Qualities, etc. will automatically come to mind: That is very nice.

जदुरानी के प्रश्न के संबंध में, हरे कृष्ण का कंपन सुनने से कृष्ण की लीलाएँ स्वतः ही स्मरण हो आती हैं। अतः जब कोई सच्चे मन से कीर्तन करता है, तो दोनों ही मन में एक साथ उठते हैं। इसलिए आप ध्वनि सुनने और लीलाओं का चिंतन करने में कोई अंतर नहीं कर सकते। लेकिन प्रक्रिया सुनने की है, और तब कृष्ण की लीलाएँ, रूप, गुण आदि स्वतः ही मन में आ जाएँगे: यह बहुत अच्छा है।

This is the conclusion of all knowledge to chant Hare Krishna and be happy. SrilaPrabhupad would say that so often Just chant Hare Krishna and be happy. But we shouldn’t take this instruction lightly. It is the sum mum bonum of all knowledge to chant the holy names and be happy.

हरे कृष्ण का जप करो और सुखी रहो, यही समस्त ज्ञान का निष्कर्ष है। श्रील प्रभुपाद अक्सर यही कहते थे कि बस हरे कृष्ण का जप करो और सुखी रहो। लेकिन हमें इस निर्देश को हल्के में नहीं लेना चाहिए। पवित्र नामों का जप करना और सुखी रहना ही समस्त ज्ञान का मूलमंत्र है।

Haridasa Thakura even at the last stage of his life, he was chanting 300,000 beads although Lord Caitanya personally asked him to not labor so hard. But Haridasa Thakura said that he would continue the practice till the end of his life. So that is the position of transcendental taste. Please therefore chant very sincerely with your present aptitude of mind and Krishna will bless you more and more in understanding this secret of transcendental vibration.

If one is in full Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he can make his home very happy, because this process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness is very easy. One need only chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare, accept the remnants of foodstuffs offered to Kṛṣṇa, have some discussion on books like Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, and engage oneself in Deity worship. These four things will make one happy

यदि कोई पूर्ण कृष्णभावनामृत में है, तो वह अपने घर को अत्यंत सुखी बना सकता है, क्योंकि कृष्णभावनामृत की यह प्रक्रिया अत्यंत सरल है। बस हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का जप करें, कृष्ण को अर्पित किए गए भोग का उच्छिष्ट ग्रहण करें, भगवद्गीता और श्रीमद्भागवत जैसे ग्रंथों पर चर्चा करें और स्वयं को विग्रह-पूजा में लीन करें। ये चार बातें व्यक्ति को सुखी बना देंगी।

Cleanliness is essential for making advancement in spiritual life. There are two kinds of cleanliness: external and internal. External cleanliness means taking a bath, but for internal cleanliness one has to think of Kṛṣṇa always and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. This process cleans the accumulated dust of past karma from the mind.

आध्यात्मिक जीवन में उन्नति के लिए स्वच्छता आवश्यक है। स्वच्छता दो प्रकार की होती है: बाह्य और आंतरिक। बाह्य स्वच्छता का अर्थ है स्नान करना, लेकिन आंतरिक स्वच्छता के लिए सदैव कृष्ण का चिंतन करना और हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का जप करना आवश्यक है। यह प्रक्रिया मन से पिछले कर्मों की जमी हुई धूल को साफ करती है।

This age of Kali is an ocean of defects, ocean of faults. But Krishna has given a concession in this age of Kali. That simply by remembering and chanting His holy name, we can attain the perfection of liberation from all the problems, sorrows and sufferings of the world and this is the greatest need of human society, to take this medicine of Harinam

यह कलियुग दोषों का सागर है, दोषों का सागर है। परन्तु कृष्ण ने इस कलियुग में एक छूट दी है। कि उनके पवित्र नाम के स्मरण और कीर्तन मात्र से ही हम संसार के सभी कष्टों, दुःखों और क्लेशों से मुक्ति की सिद्धि प्राप्त कर सकते हैं और यही मानव समाज की सबसे बड़ी आवश्यकता है, हरिनाम की इस औषधि को ग्रहण करना।

Srila Rupa Goswami used to say, wishing if he had possessed millions of ears, and billions of tongues then he could chant the Hare Krishna mantra a little bit relishably. Hare Krsna-Importance 18">In the conditioned stage, we chant Hare Krishna mantra officially without any attachment and try to finish the rounds as soon as possible.

श्रील रूप गोस्वामी कहा करते थे कि काश, उनके पास लाखों कान और अरबों जीभें होतीं, तो वे हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का थोड़ा-सा आनंदपूर्वक जप कर पाते। हरे कृष्ण-महत्व 18">बद्ध अवस्था में, हम बिना किसी आसक्ति के औपचारिक रूप से हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का जप करते हैं और जितनी जल्दी हो सके परिक्रमा पूरी करने का प्रयास करते हैं।

Devotional service, or engagement in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, is the direct method, and all other methods, although recommended, are indirect. In this Age of Kali the direct method is especially more feasible than the indirect because people are short-living, their intelligence is poor, and they are poverty-stricken and embarrassed by so many miserable disturbances. Lord Caitanya, therefore, has given the greatest boon: in this age one simply has to chant the holy name of God to attain perfection in spiritual life.

भक्ति सेवा, या कृष्णभावनामृत में लीन होना, प्रत्यक्ष विधि है, और अन्य सभी विधियाँ, यद्यपि अनुशंसित हैं, अप्रत्यक्ष हैं। इस कलियुग में प्रत्यक्ष विधि अप्रत्यक्ष विधि की अपेक्षा विशेष रूप से अधिक व्यवहार्य है क्योंकि लोग अल्पायु हैं, उनकी बुद्धि क्षीण है, और वे दरिद्र हैं तथा अनेक दुःखद विघ्नों से लज्जित हैं। इसलिए, भगवान चैतन्य ने सबसे बड़ा वरदान दिया है: इस युग में आध्यात्मिक जीवन में पूर्णता प्राप्त करने के लिए केवल भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप करना है।

e must chant regularly and we must chant attentively with this feeling that ‘Krishna, Your name is truly my shelter in life.’ We must chant the holy name in the mood of seeking shelter of the holy name. And we know in the story of Draupadi… she was such a wonderful devotee of Krishna and she was always chanting the holy name of Krishna.

हमें नियमित रूप से जप करना चाहिए और इस भावना के साथ ध्यानपूर्वक जप करना चाहिए कि ‘कृष्ण, आपका नाम सचमुच मेरे जीवन का आश्रय है।’ हमें पवित्र नाम का आश्रय पाने की भावना से जप करना चाहिए। और हम द्रौपदी की कहानी में जानते हैं... वह कृष्ण की एक अद्भुत भक्त थीं और वह हमेशा कृष्ण के पवित्र नाम का जप करती रहती थीं।

There is no such requirement that Japa should be silently and chanting should be be done differently. Loudly or silently, everything is all right. There is no such restriction. Only thing is that we should chant very attentively, hearing the vibration very distinctly.

devotees in the line of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu must chant at least sixteen rounds daily, and this is the number prescribed by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Haridāsa Ṭhākura daily chanted 300,000 names. Sixteen rounds is about 28,000 names. There is no need to imitate Haridāsa Ṭhākura or the other Gosvāmīs, but chanting the holy name a fixed number of times daily is essential for every devotee.

श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु की परंपरा के भक्तों को प्रतिदिन कम से कम सोलह माला जपना आवश्यक है, और यह संख्या अंतर्राष्ट्रीय कृष्णभावनामृत संघ द्वारा निर्धारित है। हरिदास ठाकुर प्रतिदिन 3,00,000 नामों का जप करते थे। सोलह मालाएँ लगभग 28,000 नामों के बराबर होती हैं। हरिदास ठाकुर या अन्य गोस्वामी की नकल करने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है, बल्कि प्रत्येक भक्त के लिए प्रतिदिन एक निश्चित संख्या में पवित्र नाम का जप करना आवश्यक है।

through good association one develops attachment for pure devotional service and thereby accepts a bona fide spiritual master and from him begins to hear and chant and observe the regulative principles of devotional service with faith, attachment and devotion and thus becomes engaged in the transcendental service of the Lord.

अच्छी संगति से मनुष्य शुद्ध भक्ति के प्रति आसक्ति विकसित करता है और इस प्रकार एक प्रामाणिक आध्यात्मिक गुरु को स्वीकार करता है तथा उनसे भक्ति के विनियामक सिद्धांतों को श्रद्धा, आसक्ति और भक्ति के साथ सुनना, कीर्तन करना और उनका पालन करना शुरू कर देता है और इस प्रकार भगवान की दिव्य सेवा में लग जाता है।

Instead of living engrossed in material activities, people throughout the world should take advantage of this movement and chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra at home with their families. One should also refrain from sinful activities — illicit sex, meat-eating, gambling and intoxication.

Within our mission, we recommend that devotees chant 16 malas everyday of mahamantra, but it must also be done with great attention, with great concentration and with great feeling. What is that feeling? That ‘Krishna, Your holy name is my only shelter.’

After leaving his home, which was full of politics and diplomacy, Vidura wanted to purify himself by traveling to all the sacred places, which are so situated that anyone who goes there automatically becomes purified. This is especially true in Vṛndāvana; any person may go there, and even if he is sinful he will at once contact an atmosphere of spiritual life and will automatically chant the names of Kṛṣṇa and Rādhā.

here is no such requirement that Japa should be silently and chanting should be be done differently. Loudly or silently, everything is all right. There is no such restriction. Only thing is that we should chant very attentively, hearing the vibration very distinctly.

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu introduced the system of chanting the holy name of the Lord a fixed number of times daily, as confirmed in this verse (tomāra dui hasta baddha nāma-gaṇane). Caitanya Mahāprabhu used to count on His fingers. While one hand was engaged in chanting, the other hand kept the number of rounds.

So when you go home tonight, you should take with you the gift that Srila Prabhupad has given, the gift of Krishna’s most intimate mercy in the form of His holy name. And please, kindly every day, regularly, chant the holy name of Krishna, this maha mantra with great attention.

To practice the regulative principles of bhakti-yoga one should, under the guidance of an expert spiritual master, follow certain principles: one should rise early in the morning, take bath, enter the temple and offer prayers and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, then collect flowers to offer to the Deity, cook foodstuffs to offer to the Deity, take prasādam, and so on. There are various rules and regulations which one should follow.

भक्तियोग के नियामक सिद्धांतों का अभ्यास करने के लिए, किसी कुशल गुरु के मार्गदर्शन में, कुछ नियमों का पालन करना चाहिए: प्रातःकाल उठना, स्नान करना, मंदिर में जाकर प्रार्थना और हरे कृष्ण का जप करना, फिर भगवान को अर्पित करने के लिए पुष्प एकत्रित करना, भगवान को अर्पित करने के लिए भोजन पकाना, प्रसाद ग्रहण करना, इत्यादि। ऐसे कई नियम और विनियम हैं जिनका पालन करना चाहिए।

Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu also recommended five items of devotional service, namely to serve the devotees of the Lord, to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, to hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, to worship the Deity of the Lord and to live in a place of pilgrimage. Just performing these five activities can deliver one from the miserable condition of material life.

भगवान चैतन्य महाप्रभु ने भक्ति के पाँच कार्य भी सुझाए हैं: भगवान के भक्तों की सेवा करना, हरे कृष्ण का कीर्तन करना, श्रीमद्भागवत का श्रवण करना, भगवान के श्रीविग्रह की पूजा करना और तीर्थस्थान में निवास करना। इन पाँच कार्यों को करने मात्र से ही व्यक्ति भौतिक जीवन की दयनीय स्थिति से मुक्ति पा सकता है।

So far as you not completing your chanting, I think this should not be a regular practice. If by chance you miss to finish in one day, that is a different thing. But as far as possible we must try to complete the prescribed number of beads. You should try to chant at least 2 or 3 hours every day. We have got 24 hours at our disposal, so for chanting we can find 2 or 3 hours without any difficulty. Simply we have to adjust things in the right way.

जहाँ तक आपके जप पूरा न करने की बात है, मुझे लगता है कि यह नियमित अभ्यास नहीं होना चाहिए। अगर संयोग से आप एक दिन में पूरा करने से चूक जाते हैं, तो यह अलग बात है। लेकिन जहाँ तक हो सके, हमें निर्धारित संख्या में मालाएँ पूरी करने की कोशिश करनी चाहिए। आपको प्रतिदिन कम से कम 2 या 3 घंटे जप करने का प्रयास करना चाहिए। हमारे पास 24 घंटे हैं, इसलिए जप के लिए हम बिना किसी कठिनाई के 2 या 3 घंटे निकाल सकते हैं। बस हमें चीजों को सही तरीके से समायोजित करना होगा।

We simply request everyone to chant the mahā-mantra: Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. If one is a little literate and can read Bhagavad-gītā As It Is and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, that is so much the better.

Srila Prabhupad, at the age of 70 years old, with no money was given passage on a cargo ship from Calcutta to New York across the turbulent oceans. He didn’t know anyone, he had nowhere to go. There were only three things in his possession. Complete faith in the instruction of guru and Krishna, a heart full of pure love and compassion for all the sufferings of humanity and the chanting of the holy names of Krishna. He has revealed Krishna throughout the entire world by inducing everyone to chant His holy names

In the Vedic scriptures, the neophyte devotees are advised to engage in nine kinds of devotional service, such as to hear and chant the holy name of God, to remember Him always, to chant on beads Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare, to worship the Lord in the form of His Deity incarnation in the temples, and to engage in various activities of Kṛṣṇa consciousness to increase the number of godly persons for perfect peace in the world.

The devotee does not desire any achievement other than pleasing the Supreme Personality of Godhead. His life’s mission is to please Kṛṣṇa, and he can sacrifice everything for Kṛṣṇa’s satisfaction, just as Arjuna did in the Battle of Kurukṣetra. The process is very simple: one can devote himself in his occupation and engage at the same time in chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. Such transcendental chanting attracts the devotee to the Personality of Godhead.

In this age of Kaliyuga, no one has the capacity to properly perform silent meditation, yagna or deity worship in such a way to perfect their lives. But simply by sincerely chanting the holy names, we can achieve the perfection of all other processes of religion.

This is an opportunity for everyone. If one simply follows the instructions of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, under the guidance of His representative, and chants the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra, teaching everyone as far as possible the same principle, the contamination of the materialistic way of life will not even touch him.

The conclusion is that if one can feed a brāhmaṇa or Vaiṣṇava, it is better than performing hundreds of thousands of sacrifices. In this age, therefore, it is recommended that harer nāma — chanting the holy name of God — and pleasing the Vaiṣṇava are the only means to elevate oneself to spiritual life.

निष्कर्ष यह है कि यदि कोई ब्राह्मण या वैष्णव को भोजन करा सके, तो यह लाखों यज्ञ करने से भी श्रेष्ठ है। इसलिए, इस युग में, यह अनुशंसा की जाती है कि हरेर नाम - भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप - और वैष्णव को प्रसन्न करना ही आध्यात्मिक जीवन में उन्नति पाने का एकमात्र साधन है।

A pure devotee is constantly engaged. Sometimes he chants, sometimes he hears or reads books about Kṛṣṇa, or sometimes he cooks prasādam or goes to the marketplace to purchase something for Kṛṣṇa, or sometimes he washes the temple or the dishes – whatever he does, he does not let a single moment pass without devoting his activities to Kṛṣṇa. Such action is in full samādhi.

एक शुद्ध भक्त निरंतर तत्पर रहता है। कभी वह कीर्तन करता है, कभी कृष्ण के बारे में सुनता या पढ़ता है, कभी प्रसाद बनाता है या कृष्ण के लिए कुछ खरीदने बाज़ार जाता है, या कभी मंदिर या बर्तन धोता है - वह जो भी करता है, एक क्षण भी कृष्ण को समर्पित किए बिना नहीं बिताता। ऐसा कर्म पूर्ण समाधि है।

Everyone can execute the cult of Kṛṣṇa consciousness at home, as ordered by the Lord. Everyone can congregationally chant the holy name of Kṛṣṇa, the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra. One can also discuss the subject matter of the Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and install Deities of Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa or Gaura-Nitāi or both and worship them very carefully in one’s own home.

भगवान के आदेशानुसार, हर कोई घर पर ही कृष्णभावनामृत का अनुष्ठान कर सकता है। हर कोई सामूहिक रूप से कृष्ण के पवित्र नाम, हरे कृष्ण महामंत्र का जप कर सकता है। कोई भी भगवद्गीता और श्रीमद्भागवत के विषय पर चर्चा कर सकता है और राधा-कृष्ण या गौरा-निताई या दोनों के विग्रहों को अपने घर में स्थापित करके उनकी अत्यंत सावधानी से पूजा कर सकता है।

Lord Sri Krishna appears in this age of Kaliyuga as the yuga avatar Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to teach us how to love Krishna through the simple process of the chanting of the holy names. In the age of Kali, Krishna appears within the sound of His name and all the power, glory and all the attractive qualities of Krishna are fully manifested in every syllable of His name and by chanting this holy name, everyone and anyone can attain pure love of Krishna

even if those who are not devotees always think of Viṣṇu, they become free from all sinful activities. Kṛṣṇa consciousness is the highest form of thought. Lord Viṣṇu is thought of in this age by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. From the statements of the Bhāgavatam it appears that if one thinks of Kṛṣṇa, even as an enemy, that particular qualification — thinking of Viṣṇu, or Kṛṣṇa — cleanses one of all sins.

जो भक्त नहीं हैं, वे भी यदि सदैव विष्णु का चिंतन करें, तो वे सभी पाप कर्मों से मुक्त हो जाते हैं। कृष्णभावनामृत विचार का सर्वोच्च रूप है। इस युग में हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का जप करके भगवान विष्णु का चिंतन किया जाता है। भागवत के कथनों से ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि यदि कोई कृष्ण का चिंतन करता है, चाहे वह शत्रु ही क्यों न हो, तो वह विशेष गुण - विष्णु या कृष्ण का चिंतन - उसे सभी पापों से मुक्त कर देता है।

हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे जपने का लाभ। चाहे किसी भी परिस्थिति में क्यों न रखा जाए, भगवान उसे हरे कृष्ण जपने का विशेषाधिकार देते हैं। जीवन की किसी भी परिस्थिति में, यदि कोई जप करता रहे, तो वह कभी दुखी नहीं होगा।

ri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who is Krishna Himself, extracted the most powerful and the most sublime mantra of all the Vedic hymns. And that is the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha mantra.

There are three stages in chanting the holy name of the Lord. The first stage is the offensive chanting of the holy name, and the second is the reflective stage of chanting the holy name. The third stage is the offenseless chanting of the holy name of the Lord.

Bhakti-yoga is very simple and pure and easy to perform. One can begin by simply chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa is very merciful to those who engage in His service, and He helps in various ways that devotee who is fully surrendered to Him so he can understand Him as He is. The Lord gives such a devotee sufficient intelligence so that ultimately the devotee can attain Him in His spiritual kingdom.

भक्ति-योग अत्यंत सरल, शुद्ध और सहज है। इसकी शुरुआत केवल हरे कृष्ण जप से की जा सकती है। कृष्ण उन पर अत्यंत दयालु हैं जो उनकी सेवा में लगे रहते हैं, और जो भक्त उनके प्रति पूर्णतः समर्पित है, वे उसकी विभिन्न प्रकार से सहायता करते हैं ताकि वह उन्हें उनके वास्तविक स्वरूप में समझ सके। भगवान ऐसे भक्त को पर्याप्त बुद्धि प्रदान करते हैं ताकि अंततः भक्त उनके आध्यात्मिक धाम में उन्हें प्राप्त कर सके।

Of all sacrifices, the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare is the purest representation of Kṛṣṇa. Sometimes animal sacrifices are recommended, but in the sacrifice of Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, there is no question of violence. It is the simplest and the purest.

सभी यज्ञों में, हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का जाप कृष्ण का सबसे शुद्धतम प्रतिनिधित्व है। कभी-कभी पशु बलि की सलाह दी जाती है, लेकिन हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण के यज्ञ में हिंसा का कोई प्रश्न ही नहीं उठता। यह सबसे सरल और शुद्धतम है।

So this is the supreme personality of Godhead performing such charming pastimes just to attract our hearts. But why our hearts are not so attracted to these beautiful lilas of the Lord? Because they are covered by material attachments. And when these material attachments are removed from our hearts, automatically we become spontaneously attracted to chanting Krishna’s name and hearing His glories and performing all our work in His loving service.

तो ये परम पुरुष भगवान ही हैं जो हमारे हृदयों को आकर्षित करने के लिए ऐसी मनमोहक लीलाएँ करते हैं। लेकिन हमारे हृदय भगवान की इन सुंदर लीलाओं की ओर इतने आकर्षित क्यों नहीं होते? क्योंकि वे भौतिक आसक्तियों से आवृत हैं। और जब ये भौतिक आसक्तियाँ हमारे हृदय से दूर हो जाती हैं, तो हम स्वतः ही कृष्ण का नाम जपने, उनकी महिमा सुनने और उनकी प्रेममयी सेवा में अपने सभी कार्य करने के लिए आकर्षित हो जाते हैं।

The principle of Srimad-Bhagavatam is that any religious faith which helps a man to develop Love of God, without any motive, and without being hampered by any material condition, is transcendental religion. And the best process or the easiest process, in this age especially, is to chant the Holy name of God.

श्रीमद्भागवतम् का सिद्धांत यह है कि कोई भी धार्मिक आस्था जो मनुष्य को बिना किसी उद्देश्य के, और बिना किसी भौतिक बाधा के, ईश्वर-प्रेम विकसित करने में सहायता करती है, वह दिव्य धर्म है। और इस युग में, विशेष रूप से, सर्वोत्तम या सबसे सरल प्रक्रिया ईश्वर के पवित्र नाम का जप करना है।

If one wants success in practical yoga practice, it is advised that he take to the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare, and he will actually feel himself making progress. In Bhagavad-gītā this practice of Kṛṣṇa consciousness is prescribed as rāja-vidyā, or the king of all erudition.

यदि कोई व्यावहारिक योगाभ्यास में सफलता चाहता है, तो उसे हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का जप करने की सलाह दी जाती है, और वह वास्तव में स्वयं को प्रगति करते हुए अनुभव करेगा। भगवद्गीता में कृष्णभावनामृत के इस अभ्यास को राज-विद्या, या समस्त पांडित्य का राजा कहा गया है।

The ultimate goal, Viṣṇu, can be attained only by this chant and by devotional service, and not by mental speculation or argument. The pure devotee does not have to worry about the material necessities of life; he need not be anxious, because when he removes the darkness from his heart, everything is provided automatically by the Supreme Lord, who is pleased by the loving devotional service of the devotee.

परम लक्ष्य, विष्णु, को केवल इसी जप और भक्ति से प्राप्त किया जा सकता है, मानसिक चिंतन या तर्क से नहीं। शुद्ध भक्त को जीवन की भौतिक आवश्यकताओं की चिंता नहीं करनी पड़ती; उसे चिंतित होने की आवश्यकता नहीं है, क्योंकि जब वह अपने हृदय से अंधकार को दूर कर देता है, तो परमेश्र्वर द्वारा सब कुछ स्वतः ही प्रदान कर दिया जाता है, जो भक्त की प्रेमपूर्ण भक्ति से प्रसन्न होते हैं।

In the age of Kali, Krishna appears within the sound of His name and all the power, glory and all the attractive qualities of Krishna are fully manifested in every syllable of His name and by chanting this holy name, everyone and anyone can attain pure love of Krishna.

For ordinary persons the Lord is not visible; however, when one can understand the significance of His holy name and one engages himself in the devotional service of the Lord, beginning with the tongue, by chanting and tasting prasāda, then gradually the Lord reveals Himself.

Due to the contamination of material association, through many, many millions of births, one’s heart is always covered with the dust of materialism, but when one engages in devotional service and constantly chants Hare Kṛṣṇa, the dust quickly clears, and one is elevated to the platform of pure knowledge.

This devotional service is just like a seed, and if it is sown in the heart of a living entity, and if he goes on hearing and chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare, that seed fructifies, just as the seed of a tree fructifies with regular watering. The spiritual plant of devotional service gradually grows and grows until it penetrates the covering of the material universe and enters into the brahma-jyotir effulgence in the spiritual sky.

यह भक्ति एक बीज के समान है, और यदि इसे किसी जीव के हृदय में बोया जाए, और यदि वह हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का श्रवण और कीर्तन करता रहे, तो वह बीज उसी प्रकार फलता-फूलता है, जैसे वृक्ष का बीज नियमित जल से फलता-फूलता है। भक्ति का आध्यात्मिक पौधा धीरे-धीरे बढ़ता जाता है, जब तक कि वह भौतिक ब्रह्मांड के आवरण को भेदकर आध्यात्मिक आकाश में ब्रह्म-ज्योति में प्रवेश नहीं कर जाता।

The chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare should be continued without stoppage. This will protect a devotee from all accidental falldowns. He will thus remain perpetually free from all material contaminations.

all such saṅkīrtana must be preceded by the chanting of the holy names of the five tattvas — śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya prabhu-nityānanda śrī-advaita gadādhara śrīvāsādi-gaura-bhakta-vṛnda. We are already accustomed to chant these two mantras — śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya prabhu-nityānanda śrī-advaita gadādhara śrīvāsādi-gaura-bhakta-vṛnda and Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare.

ऐसे सभी संकीर्तन से पहले पाँच तत्त्वों के पवित्र नामों का जाप किया जाना चाहिए - श्रीकृष्ण-चैतन्य प्रभु-नित्यानन्द श्री-अद्वैत गदाधर श्रीवासादि-गौर-भक्त-वृन्द। हम पहले से ही इन दो मंत्रों का जाप करने के आदी हैं - श्री-कृष्ण-चैतन्य प्रभु-नित्यानंद श्री-अद्वैत गदाधर श्रीवासदि-गौरा-भक्त-वृंदा और हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे।

We are concerned to invoke our dormant love for God. Any method that helps us in reaching such platform is welcome, but we find practically that by chanting Hare Krishna, many students have come to the platform of ecstasy. But we have hardly found anyone to come to that stage simply by following the religious rituals; that is the difference. So, Krishna Consciousness is meant for the most intelligent class of men.

हम ईश्वर के प्रति अपने सुप्त प्रेम को जागृत करने के लिए चिंतित हैं। ऐसी किसी भी विधि का स्वागत है जो हमें उस स्तर तक पहुँचने में मदद करे, लेकिन हम व्यावहारिक रूप से देखते हैं कि हरे कृष्ण का जप करने से कई शिष्य परमानंद की स्थिति तक पहुँच गए हैं। लेकिन हमने शायद ही किसी को केवल धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों का पालन करके उस स्तर तक पहुँचते पाया हो; यही अंतर है। इसलिए, कृष्णभावनामृत सबसे बुद्धिमान वर्ग के लोगों के लिए है।

When one is free from all ten of these offenses in chanting the holy name of God, he develops the ecstatic bodily features called pulakāśru. Pulaka means “symptoms of happiness,” and aśru means “tears in the eyes.” The symptoms of happiness and tears in the eyes must appear in a person who has chanted the holy name offenselessly.

जब कोई व्यक्ति भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप करते हुए इन दसों अपराधों से मुक्त हो जाता है, तो उसमें पुलकाश्रु नामक आनंदमय शारीरिक लक्षण विकसित होते हैं। पुलक का अर्थ है "सुख के लक्षण", और अश्रु का अर्थ है "आँखों में आँसू"। जिस व्यक्ति ने बिना किसी अपराध के पवित्र नाम का जप किया है, उसमें सुख के लक्षण और आँखों में आँसू अवश्य ही प्रकट होने चाहिए।

Here the Supreme Lord, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, con-firms that anyone who chants the holy names Hari, Kṛṣṇa and Nārāyaṇa without offense is certainly extremely fortunate, and whether Indian or non-Indian, Hindu or non-Hindu, he immediately comes to the level of the most pious personality.

यहाँ पर परम भगवान श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु पुष्टि करते हैं कि जो कोई भी व्यक्ति बिना किसी अपराध के हरि, कृष्ण तथा नारायण के पवित्र नामों का जप करता है, वह निश्चित रूप से अत्यंत भाग्यशाली है, और चाहे वह भारतीय हो या अभारतीय, हिन्दू हो या अहिन्दू, वह तुरन्त ही परम पवित्र व्यक्ति के स्तर पर पहुँच जाता है।

One who is engaged in Lord Kṛṣṇa’s devotional service lives in a direct relationship with the Supreme Lord, so there is no doubt that his position is transcendental from the very beginning. A devotee does not live on the material plane – he lives in Kṛṣṇa. The holy name of the Lord and the Lord are nondifferent; therefore when a devotee chants Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa and His internal potency are dancing on the tongue of the devotee.

जो व्यक्ति भगवान कृष्ण की भक्ति में लीन रहता है, वह परमेश्वर के साथ प्रत्यक्ष संबंध में रहता है, अतः इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं कि उसकी स्थिति प्रारंभ से ही दिव्य है। भक्त भौतिक जगत में नहीं रहता – वह कृष्ण में रहता है। भगवान का पवित्र नाम और भगवान एक-दूसरे से अभिन्न हैं; इसलिए जब कोई भक्त हरे कृष्ण का जप करता है, तो कृष्ण और उनकी आंतरिक शक्ति भक्त की जिह्वा पर नृत्य कर रही होती हैं।

It is confirmed in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, as you might have seen it, that one who hears about Krishna, for him, Krishna helps in various ways and the first thing is that He cleanses the mind of all dusty matter and by continuing such chanting and by reading regularly Srimad-Bhagavatam, one becomes gradually freed from the influence of passion and ignorance, and thus becomes situated in goodness.

जैसा कि आपने देखा होगा, श्रीमद्भागवतम् में इसकी पुष्टि की गई है कि जो व्यक्ति कृष्ण के बारे में सुनता है, कृष्ण उसकी अनेक प्रकार से सहायता करते हैं और पहली बात तो यह है कि वे उसके मन को समस्त धूल-मिट्टी से मुक्त कर देते हैं और इस प्रकार निरंतर कीर्तन करने तथा श्रीमद्भागवतम् का नियमित पाठ करने से व्यक्ति धीरे-धीरे वासना और अज्ञान के प्रभाव से मुक्त हो जाता है और इस प्रकार सत्व में स्थित हो जाता है।

To practice the regulative principles of bhakti-yoga one should, under the guidance of an expert spiritual master, follow certain principles: one should rise early in the morning, take bath, enter the temple and offer prayers and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, then collect flowers to offer to the Deity, cook foodstuffs to offer to the Deity, take prasādam, and so on.

भक्ति-योग के नियामक सिद्धांतों का अभ्यास करने के लिए, एक विशेषज्ञ आध्यात्मिक गुरु के मार्गदर्शन में, कुछ सिद्धांतों का पालन करना चाहिए: व्यक्ति को सुबह जल्दी उठना चाहिए, स्नान करना चाहिए, मंदिर में प्रवेश करना चाहिए और प्रार्थना करनी चाहिए और हरे कृष्ण का जप करना चाहिए, फिर देवता को अर्पित करने के लिए फूल इकट्ठा करना चाहिए, देवता को अर्पित करने के लिए भोजन पकाना चाहिए, प्रसाद लेना चाहिए, इत्यादि।

Believing in the existence of many gods and considering the chanting of the holy name of Kṛṣṇa no better than other hymns, these pāṣaṇḍīs do not believe in the words of the śāstra (harer nāma harer nāma harer nāmaiva kevalam). But Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu confirms in His Śikṣāṣṭaka, kīrtanīyaḥ sadā hariḥ: one must chant the holy name of the Lord always, twenty-four hours a day.

अनेक देवताओं के अस्तित्व में विश्वास करते हुए और कृष्ण के पवित्र नाम के जाप को अन्य स्तोत्रों से अधिक श्रेष्ठ न मानते हुए, ये पाण्डि शास्त्र के शब्दों (हरेर नाम हरेर नाम हरेर नामैव केवलम्) पर विश्वास नहीं करते। परन्तु श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु अपने शिक्षाष्टक में इसकी पुष्टि करते हैं, "कीर्तनीय: सदा हरि:" अर्थात् व्यक्ति को चौबीसों घंटे भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जाप करना चाहिए।

Lord Caitanya instructed us to be more humble than the grass on the street, and more tolerant than the trees, and to offer all respects to all, demanding no respect for ourselves. All these nice qualifications make one worthy to chant Hare Krishna. Just try to follow these principles and keep staunch faith in Krishna and in Spiritual Master, and your life will be successful without any doubt.

भगवान चैतन्य ने हमें सड़क पर पड़ी घास से भी ज़्यादा विनम्र और पेड़ों से भी ज़्यादा सहनशील बनने का निर्देश दिया है, और सभी का पूरा सम्मान करने तथा अपने लिए किसी सम्मान की माँग न करने का निर्देश दिया है। ये सभी उत्तम गुण हमें हरे कृष्ण जप के योग्य बनाते हैं। बस इन सिद्धांतों का पालन करने और कृष्ण तथा गुरु में अटूट विश्वास रखने का प्रयास करें, और आपका जीवन निस्संदेह सफल होगा।

In the list of offenses in the chanting of the holy name of the Lord, it is said, dharma-vrata-tyāga-hutādi-sarva-śubha-kriyā-sāmyam api pramādaḥ: to consider the chanting of the holy name of the Lord equal to the execution of some auspicious religious ceremony is an offense.

When a Vedic mantra is chanted within the mouth so that only the chanter can hear, the chanting is called japa. But when such mantras are chanted loudly, it is called kīrtana. The Vedic hymn Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare can be chanted both softly to oneself or loudly; therefore it is called the mahā-mantra, or the great hymn

जब किसी वैदिक मंत्र का जाप मुख के भीतर इस प्रकार किया जाता है कि केवल जप करने वाला ही उसे सुन सके, तो उसे जप कहते हैं। लेकिन जब ऐसे मंत्रों का उच्च स्वर में जाप किया जाता है, तो उसे कीर्तन कहते हैं। वैदिक भजन हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का जाप धीमे स्वर में या उच्च स्वर में किया जा सकता है; इसलिए इसे महामंत्र या महान भजन कहा जाता है।

Simply by chanting the holy name of Kṛṣṇa – Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare – a devotee of the Lord can approach the supreme destination easily and happily, but this destination cannot be approached by any other process of religion.

केवल कृष्ण के पवित्र नाम का जप करने से - हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे / हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे - भगवान का भक्त आसानी से और खुशी से परम गंतव्य तक पहुंच सकता है, लेकिन इस गंतव्य तक धर्म की किसी अन्य प्रक्रिया से नहीं पहुंचा जा सकता है।

We have registered our association particularly under the name of Krishna. God has millions of names undoubtedly, but we are especially concerned with the name of Krishna because we are in the disciplic succession of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu Who chanted this Holy Name, Krishna. Everyone should be particular to his particular disciplic succession or sampradaya's regulative principles.

हमने अपनी संस्था को विशेष रूप से कृष्ण नाम से पंजीकृत कराया है। निस्संदेह, ईश्वर के लाखों नाम हैं, लेकिन हम कृष्ण नाम को लेकर विशेष रूप से चिंतित हैं क्योंकि हम भगवान चैतन्य महाप्रभु की शिष्य परंपरा में हैं, जिन्होंने इस पवित्र नाम, कृष्ण का जाप किया था। प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को अपनी विशिष्ट शिष्य परंपरा या संप्रदाय के नियामक सिद्धांतों का विशेष ध्यान रखना चाहिए।

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness now has its world center in Navadvīpa, Māyāpur. The managers of this center should see that twenty-four hours a day there is chanting of the holy names of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, with the addition of haraye namaḥ, kṛṣṇa yādavāya namaḥ, for this song was a favorite of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu’s.

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय कृष्णभावनामृत संघ का अब मायापुर के नवद्वीप में अपना विश्व केंद्र है। इस केंद्र के प्रबंधकों को यह सुनिश्चित करना चाहिए कि चौबीसों घंटे हरे कृष्ण महामंत्र के पवित्र नामों का जाप हो, साथ ही "हरये नमः, कृष्ण यादवाय नमः" भी हो, क्योंकि यह श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु का प्रिय भजन था।

Therefore a person who is situated in Kṛṣṇa consciousness and is engaged with determination in the process of chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare should be considered to be in the transcendental position, even if by chance or accident he is found to have fallen

इसलिए जो व्यक्ति कृष्ण भावनामृत में स्थित है और हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का जप करने की प्रक्रिया में दृढ़ता के साथ लगा हुआ है, उसे दिव्य स्थिति में माना जाना चाहिए, भले ही संयोगवश या दुर्घटनावश वह पतित पाया जाए।

Prahlāda Mahārāja, would constantly meditate on the Lord and reiterate His activities. Because he would constantly remain in meditation, he would easily transfer himself to the spiritual world after quitting his material body. Such meditation is still more conveniently performed by chanting and hearing the holy name of the Lord. This is especially recommended in this Age of Kali.

प्रह्लाद महाराज निरंतर भगवान का ध्यान करते और उनकी लीलाओं का स्मरण करते रहते थे। चूँकि वे निरंतर ध्यान में रहते थे, इसलिए वे अपने भौतिक शरीर को त्यागने के बाद सहज ही आध्यात्मिक जगत में चले जाते थे। ऐसा ध्यान भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप और श्रवण करके और भी अधिक सुविधाजनक रूप से किया जा सकता है। इस कलियुग में इसकी विशेष रूप से अनुशंसा की जाती है।

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu has given us an authorized program for this purpose, centered around the chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra. This chanting has so much power that it immediately attaches one to Kṛṣṇa. That is the beginning of sādhana-bhakti. Somehow or other, one has to fix his mind on Kṛṣṇa.

श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु ने इस उद्देश्य के लिए हमें एक अधिकृत कार्यक्रम दिया है, जो हरे कृष्ण मंत्र के जप पर केंद्रित है। इस जप में इतनी शक्ति है कि यह व्यक्ति को तुरंत कृष्ण से जोड़ देता है। यही साधना-भक्ति का आरंभ है। किसी न किसी तरह, व्यक्ति को अपना मन कृष्ण पर स्थिर करना ही होगा।

Nowadays people are very much inclined to the meditational process, which is not practical in this age, but if anyone practices meditating on Kṛṣṇa twenty-four hours a day by chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra round his beads, he is surely the greatest meditator and the greatest yogī, as substantiated by the Sixth Chapter of Bhagavad-gītā.

आजकल लोग ध्यान की प्रक्रिया की ओर अत्यधिक प्रवृत्त हैं, जो इस युग में व्यावहारिक नहीं है, किन्तु यदि कोई व्यक्ति अपनी माला में हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का जप करते हुए चौबीस घंटे कृष्ण का ध्यान करता है, तो वह निश्चय ही महानतम ध्यानी तथा महानतम योगी है, जैसा कि भगवद्गीता के छठे अध्याय से प्रमाणित होता है।

Be sure to chant your sixteen rounds daily and read one chapter of Bhagavad-gita As It Is, one chapter daily. Follow the four regulative principles strictly, and I am sure that Krishna will see that your life quickly becomes more and more happy in devotional service.

To continually chant, hear , and repeat the lords names in past times and to take pleasure in other doing so, such persons are most dear to Krishna and Krishna reveals his lotus feet only to such souls and by one glimpse of those lotus feet we never have to face repetition of birth and death again.

भगवान के नामों का निरंतर जप, श्रवण और दोहराव करते रहना तथा अन्य लोगों को भी ऐसा करते देखकर प्रसन्न होना, ऐसे व्यक्ति कृष्ण को सर्वाधिक प्रिय हैं और कृष्ण केवल ऐसी ही आत्माओं को अपने चरणकमलों का दर्शन कराते हैं तथा उन चरणकमलों के दर्शन मात्र से हमें पुनः जन्म-मृत्यु के चक्र का सामना नहीं करना पड़ता।

Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has explained, there is no process that is more powerful in bringing the love of people’s hearts in the flow of Krishna Consciousness than the congregational chanting of his holy names, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.

Simply by chanting and hearing of the transcendental name, form, etc., of the Personality of Godhead, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, one can achieve the cessation of unlimited miserable conditions. Therefore what to speak of those who have attained attraction for serving the flavor of the dust of the Lord’s lotus feet?

One should note in this connection that chanting involves the activities of the upper and lower lips as well as the tongue. All three must be engaged in chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra. The words “Hare Kṛṣṇa” should be very distinctly pronounced and heard.

Sometimes one mechanically produces a hissing sound instead of chanting with the proper pronunciation with the help of the lips and tongue. Chanting is very simple, but one must practice it seriously. Therefore the author of Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja Gosvāmī, advises everyone to keep this verse always strung about his neck. - ṛṇād api su-nīcena taror iva sahiṣṇunā

कभी-कभी होठों और जीभ की सहायता से उचित उच्चारण के साथ जप करने के बजाय, व्यक्ति यंत्रवत् ही फुफकार जैसी ध्वनि उत्पन्न कर लेता है। जप करना बहुत सरल है, लेकिन इसका गंभीरतापूर्वक अभ्यास करना आवश्यक है। इसीलिए श्री चैतन्य-चरितामृत के रचयिता, कृष्णदास कविराज गोस्वामी, सभी को इस श्लोक को सदैव अपने गले में धारण करने की सलाह देते हैं। - ऋणाद् अपि सु-नीचेन तारोर् इव सहिष्णुना

“My dear King, if you want to be fearless in meeting your death next week (for actually everyone is afraid at the point of death), then you must immediately begin the process of hearing and chanting and remembering God.” If one can chant and hear Hare Kṛṣṇa and always remember Lord Kṛṣṇa, then he is sure to become fearless of death, which may come at any moment.

"मेरे प्रिय राजन, यदि आप अगले सप्ताह अपनी मृत्यु से निर्भय रहना चाहते हैं (क्योंकि वास्तव में मृत्यु के समय सभी भयभीत होते हैं), तो आपको तुरन्त भगवान का श्रवण, कीर्तन और स्मरण करना आरम्भ कर देना चाहिए।" यदि कोई हरे कृष्ण का कीर्तन और श्रवण कर सके तथा सदैव भगवान कृष्ण का स्मरण कर सके, तो वह निश्चित रूप से मृत्यु से निर्भय हो जाएगा, जो किसी भी क्षण आ सकती है।

what was achieved in the Satya-yuga by this meditational process, and in the following yuga, the Tretā-yuga, by the offering of great sacrifices, and in the next yuga, the Dvāpara-yuga, by temple worship, would be achieved at the present time, in this Kali-yuga, by simply chanting the names of God, hari-kīrtana, Hare Kṛṣṇa. So from authoritative sources we learn that this chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare is the embodiment of the perfection of yoga for this age.

सत्ययुग में इस ध्यान प्रक्रिया से, उसके अगले युग, त्रेतायुग में महायज्ञों से, और उसके अगले युग, द्वापर युग में मंदिर पूजा से जो प्राप्त हुआ था, वही वर्तमान समय में, इस कलियुग में, केवल भगवान के नाम, हरि-कीर्तन, हरे कृष्ण, के जाप से प्राप्त होगा। अतः प्रामाणिक स्रोतों से हमें पता चलता है कि हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का यह जाप इस युग के लिए योग की पूर्णता का मूर्त रूप है।

Simply you have to remember to chant Hare Krishna always, tell others to do the same, help in all respects to spread the glories of Krishna Consciousness, and certainly Krishna will help you in your efforts to solve any of the difficulties that may be taking place.

When chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, in the beginning one may commit many offenses, which are called nāmābhāsa and nāma-aparādha. In this stage there is no possibility of achieving perfect love of Kṛṣṇa by chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra. Therefore one must chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra according to the principles of the above verse, tṛṇād api su-nīcena taror iva sahiṣṇunā

हरे कृष्ण महामंत्र का जाप करते समय, आरंभ में व्यक्ति कई अपराध कर सकता है, जिन्हें नामाभास और नाम-अपराध कहते हैं। इस अवस्था में हरे कृष्ण महामंत्र के जाप से पूर्ण कृष्ण प्रेम प्राप्त करना संभव नहीं है। इसलिए, व्यक्ति को उपरोक्त श्लोक के सिद्धांतों के अनुसार हरे कृष्ण महामंत्र का जाप करना चाहिए, "तृणाद् अपि सु-नीचेन तरोर इव सहिष्णुना"।

Regarding your last question about the importance of chanting; this chanting process is the only way of attaining full Krishna Consciousness in this age of kali yuga. Lord Caitanya stressed upon this point, and we may take it from His authority that no other method will prove to be successful in this matter.

The grass is specifically mentioned in this verse because everyone tramples upon it yet the grass never protests. This example indicates that a spiritual master or leader should not be proud of his position; being always humbler than an ordinary common man, he should go on preaching the cult of Caitanya Mahāprabhu by chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra.

It is said that the execution of devotional service is so perfect that one can perceive the results directly. This direct result is actually perceived, and we have practical experience that any person who is chanting the holy names of Kṛṣṇa (Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare) in course of chanting without offenses feels some transcendental pleasure and very quickly becomes purified of all material contamination.

ऐसा कहा जाता है कि भक्ति का निष्पादन इतना उत्तम होता है कि व्यक्ति उसके परिणामों को प्रत्यक्ष रूप से देख सकता है। यह प्रत्यक्ष परिणाम वास्तव में प्रत्यक्ष होता है, और हमारा व्यावहारिक अनुभव है कि जो कोई भी व्यक्ति कृष्ण के पवित्र नामों (हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे) का जप बिना किसी अपराध के करता है, उसे दिव्य आनंद की अनुभूति होती है और वह शीघ्र ही समस्त भौतिक कल्मषों से शुद्ध हो जाता है।

This Hare Krishna maha mantra is the prime benediction for all humanity. It doesn’t matter whether one is young or old, rich or poor, educated or uneducated, whether one is of a high caste or a low caste, whether one is of one religion or another, the eternal soul of every living being is awakened through the glorious hearing and chanting of the holy names.

यह हरे कृष्ण महामंत्र समस्त मानवता के लिए परम कल्याणकारी है। चाहे कोई युवा हो या वृद्ध, अमीर हो या गरीब, शिक्षित हो या अशिक्षित, ऊँची जाति का हो या नीची, किसी भी धर्म का हो या किसी अन्य धर्म का, प्रत्येक जीव की सनातन आत्मा पवित्र नामों के श्रवण और कीर्तन से जागृत होती है।

The creeper of devotional service, so nourished, gradually grows, and the devotee, acting as a gardener, goes on pouring the water of constant hearing and chanting. The creeper of devotional service gradually grows so high that it passes through the entire material universe and enters into the spiritual sky, growing still higher and higher until it reaches the planet Goloka Vṛndāvana.

इस प्रकार पोषित भक्ति की लता धीरे-धीरे बढ़ती है और भक्त माली की तरह निरंतर श्रवण और कीर्तन का जल डालता रहता है। भक्ति की लता धीरे-धीरे इतनी ऊँची हो जाती है कि वह समस्त भौतिक ब्रह्मांड से होकर आध्यात्मिक आकाश में प्रवेश कर जाती है और फिर और भी ऊँची होती जाती है, जब तक कि वह गोलोक वृन्दावन तक नहीं पहुँच जाती।

Lord Caitanya has advised that one be as tolerant as a tree (taror api sahiṣṇunā). There may be so many impediments for a person who is chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. Nonetheless, tolerating all these impediments, one should continue to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare, so that at the end of one’s life one can have the full benefit of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

Unless we develop the proper service attitude through the process of devotional service, the watering process of chanting the holy name will not make the seed of love of god grow unless our heart becomes very soft in devotional service chanting will not have much effect.

This practice of forbearance (taror iva sahiṣṇunā) is very difficult, but when one actually engages in chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra, the quality of forbearance automatically develops. A person advanced in spiritual consciousness through the chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra need not practice to develop it separately, for a devotee develops all good qualities simply by chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra regularly.

यह धैर्य (तरोर इव सहिष्णुना) का अभ्यास अत्यंत कठिन है, किन्तु जब कोई वास्तव में हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का जप करता है, तो धैर्य का गुण स्वतः ही विकसित हो जाता है। हरे कृष्ण मंत्र के जप से आध्यात्मिक चेतना में उन्नत व्यक्ति को इसे अलग से विकसित करने का अभ्यास करने की आवश्यकता नहीं होती, क्योंकि एक भक्त केवल नियमित रूप से हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का जप करने मात्र से ही सभी सद्गुणों का विकास कर लेता है।

Lord Caitanya therefore recommended five main principles for attaining perfection in the devotional service of the Lord. The first is association with devotees (hearing); second is chanting the glories of the Lord; third, hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam from the pure devotee; fourth, residing in a holy place connected with the Lord; and fifth, worshiping the Deity of the Lord with devotion.

इसलिए भगवान चैतन्य ने भगवान की भक्ति में पूर्णता प्राप्त करने के लिए पाँच मुख्य सिद्धांत सुझाए। पहला है भक्तों की संगति (श्रवण); दूसरा है भगवान की महिमा का कीर्तन; तीसरा, शुद्ध भक्त से श्रीमद्भागवत का श्रवण; चौथा, भगवान से जुड़े किसी पवित्र स्थान में निवास करना; और पाँचवाँ, भक्तिपूर्वक भगवान के विग्रह की पूजा करना।

हरे कृष्ण इतना अच्छा है कि यह भक्त के मन से गंदी चीजों को साफ कर देता है और जितना अधिक कोई व्यक्ति बिना किसी अपराध के पवित्र नाम का जप करने के लिए अभ्यस्त होता है, उतना ही अधिक वह भगवान के प्रति प्रेम विकसित करता है, और सारी भौतिक बकवास को भूल जाता है।

Everything can be attained in life. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu wrote eight verses the Siksastakam and these eight verses which he personally penned with his own hands simply delaminating the importance chanting of holy name it is all-n-all. To achieve love of God in this age it is the all in all and everything else is simple to assist that process.

The regulative principles are called vidhi-bhakti, or the devotional service of the Lord, and they can be practiced by a neophyte with his present senses. Such regulative principles are mainly based on hearing and chanting of the glories of the Lord. And such hearing and chanting of the glories of the Lord can be made possible in the association of devotees only.

इन नियम-सिद्धान्तों को विधि-भक्ति या भगवान की भक्ति सेवा कहा जाता है, और इनका अभ्यास एक नवदीक्षित व्यक्ति अपनी वर्तमान इंद्रियों से कर सकता है। ये नियम-सिद्धान्त मुख्यतः भगवान की महिमा के श्रवण और कीर्तन पर आधारित हैं। और भगवान की महिमा का ऐसा श्रवण और कीर्तन केवल भक्तों की संगति में ही संभव हो सकता है।

Lord Caitanya has announced, according to the scriptural injunctions for this Age of Kali, that in this age no process of realizing the Supreme is possible except the chanting of the holy names of Lord Kṛṣṇa: Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare.

भगवान चैतन्य ने इस कलियुग के लिए शास्त्रीय आदेशों के अनुसार घोषणा की है कि इस युग में भगवान कृष्ण के पवित्र नामों के जाप के अलावा परमात्मा को प्राप्त करने की कोई प्रक्रिया संभव नहीं है: हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे / हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे।

Krishna is not different than his name. He reveals himself as your approach him. Unless we surrender to the lotus feet of guru and sadhu our chanting of the holy name is like, one acarya has explained it is like blank bullets it makes the sound but no substance to it you know the real bullet when you shoot it, it will go and kill the enemy right? But a blank bullet will make a noise but nothing comes out it has no potency

The last word in the Bhagavad-gita is to surrender unto Krsna and Lord Caitanya taught us to surrender unto Krsna. His transcendental movement of chanting the Holy name of Krsna and Rama is the sublime movement, not only at the present age, but for all the time past, present and future.

one should practice Kṛṣṇa consciousness from the very beginning of life. If one wants to achieve success at the end of his life, the process of remembering Kṛṣṇa is essential. Therefore one should constantly, incessantly chant the mahā-mantra – Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare.

जीवन के आरंभ से ही कृष्णभावनामृत का अभ्यास करना चाहिए। यदि व्यक्ति अपने जीवन के अंत में सफलता प्राप्त करना चाहता है, तो कृष्ण स्मरण की प्रक्रिया आवश्यक है। इसलिए व्यक्ति को निरंतर, निरंतर महामंत्र - हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे / हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे - का जप करना चाहिए।

The chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra is clearly recommended for this age. So if one quits his body at the end of life chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare, he certainly reaches one of the spiritual planets, according to the mode of his practice.

इस युग के लिए हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का जप स्पष्ट रूप से अनुशंसित है। अतः यदि कोई जीवन के अंत में हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का जप करते हुए अपना शरीर त्यागता है, तो वह अपनी साधना के अनुसार निश्चित रूप से किसी न किसी आध्यात्मिक लोक को प्राप्त करता है।

Our Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement stresses the chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra only, whereas those who do not know the secret of success for this Age of Kali unnecessarily indulge in the cultivation of knowledge, the practice of mystic yoga or the performance of fruitive activities or useless austerities.

So chanting the holy a name without a proper service attitude is like a blank bullet makes the sound of the name but the enemy of pride is not killed within the heart. So therefore unless we perform devotional service in a menial humble attitude Krishna will never reveal himself to his name,

Yoga practice is meditation on the Supersoul within; similarly, by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa one fixes his mind always on the Supreme Lord. The mind is fickle, and therefore it is necessary to engage the mind by force to think of Kṛṣṇa. One example often given is that of the caterpillar that thinks of becoming a butterfly and so is transformed into a butterfly in the same life. Similarly, if we constantly think of Kṛṣṇa, it is certain that at the end of our lives we shall have the same bodily constitution as Kṛṣṇa.

योगाभ्यास अंतरात्मा का ध्यान है; इसी प्रकार, हरे कृष्ण का जप करने से मनुष्य अपना मन सदैव परमेश्वर में एकाग्र करता है। मन चंचल है, इसलिए कृष्ण का चिंतन करने के लिए मन को बलपूर्वक लगाना आवश्यक है। एक उदाहरण प्रायः उस इल्ली का दिया जाता है जो तितली बनने का विचार करती है और उसी जीवन में तितली में रूपांतरित हो जाती है। इसी प्रकार, यदि हम निरंतर कृष्ण का चिंतन करते रहें, तो यह निश्चित है कि जीवन के अंत में हमारी शारीरिक संरचना कृष्ण के समान ही होगी।

One can be free from all sinful reactions after reaching a place of pilgrimage, but one can have the same benefit at home or at any place simply by chanting the holy name of the Lord. For a pure devotee, there is no need to go to the holy place of pilgrimage. He can be delivered from all sinful acts simply by remembering the Lord in earnestness.

किसी तीर्थस्थान पर पहुँचकर व्यक्ति सभी पापों से मुक्त हो सकता है, लेकिन घर पर या किसी भी स्थान पर केवल भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप करने से ही वही लाभ प्राप्त किया जा सकता है। एक शुद्ध भक्त के लिए किसी पवित्र तीर्थस्थान पर जाने की आवश्यकता नहीं होती। वह केवल सच्चे मन से भगवान का स्मरण करने मात्र से ही सभी पापों से मुक्त हो सकता है।

The Lord’s holy name is called śravaṇa-maṅgala. This means that one receives everything auspicious simply by hearing the holy name. In another place in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, His holy name is described as puṇya-śravaṇa-kīrtana. It is a pious act simply to chant and hear all about the Lord.

भगवान के पवित्र नाम को श्रवण-मंगल कहा जाता है। इसका अर्थ है कि पवित्र नाम के श्रवण मात्र से ही सभी शुभ फल प्राप्त हो जाते हैं। श्रीमद्भागवत में एक अन्य स्थान पर, उनके पवित्र नाम का वर्णन पुण्य-श्रवण-कीर्तन के रूप में किया गया है। भगवान के बारे में केवल कीर्तन करना और सुनना ही एक पुण्य कर्म है।

“In the Age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the name of Krishna. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Krishna Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons and confidential companions.”

"कलियुग में, बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति सामूहिक जप करके भगवान के उस अवतार की पूजा करते हैं जो निरंतर कृष्ण नाम का गान करते हैं। यद्यपि उनका रंग श्याम वर्ण का नहीं है, फिर भी वे स्वयं कृष्ण हैं। उनके साथ उनके सहयोगी, सेवक, अस्त्र-शस्त्र और विश्वासपात्र साथी होते हैं।"

The devotee can constantly think of the object of worship, the Supreme Lord, in any of His features – Nārāyaṇa, Kṛṣṇa, Rāma, etc. – by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. This practice will purify him, and at the end of his life, due to his constant chanting, he will be transferred to the kingdom of God.

The leader of the elephants, whose leg was attacked in a river by a crocodile of superior strength, was much aggrieved. Taking a lotus flower in his trunk, he addressed the Lord, saying, “O original enjoyer, Lord of the universe! O deliverer, as famous as a place of pilgrimage! All are purified simply by hearing Your holy name, which is worthy to be chanted.”

नदी में एक बलवान मगरमच्छ ने हाथियों के सरदार के पैर पर प्रहार किया था, जिससे वह अत्यंत दुःखी हुआ। अपनी सूँड़ में कमल का फूल लेकर उसने भगवान से कहा, "हे आदि भोक्ता, जगत के स्वामी! हे मोक्षदाता, तीर्थ के समान प्रसिद्ध! आपके कीर्तन करने योग्य पवित्र नाम के श्रवण मात्र से ही सभी पवित्र हो जाते हैं।"

One’s memory of Kṛṣṇa is revived by chanting the mahā-mantra, Hare Kṛṣṇa. By this practice of chanting and hearing the sound vibration of the Supreme Lord, one’s ear, tongue and mind are engaged. This mystic meditation is very easy to practice, and it helps one attain the Supreme Lord.

हरे कृष्ण महामंत्र के जाप से कृष्ण की स्मृति जागृत होती है। इस जाप और परमेश्र्वर के ध्वनि-स्पंदन के श्रवण के अभ्यास से, व्यक्ति के कान, जीभ और मन एकाग्र होते हैं। इस रहस्यमय ध्यान का अभ्यास अत्यंत सरल है और यह परमेश्र्वर को प्राप्त करने में सहायक होता है।

It is said that the transcendental name, form, quality, pastimes, paraphernalia, personality, etc., cannot possibly be perceived by the gross materialistic senses. But when the senses are purified by the process of hearing, chanting, remembering, and worshiping the lotus feet of the holy Deity, etc., the Lord reveals Himself proportionately to the advancement of the quality of devotional service (ye yathā māṁ prapadyante).

कहा जाता है कि दिव्य नाम, रूप, गुण, लीलाएँ, साज-सज्जा, व्यक्तित्व आदि को स्थूल भौतिक इंद्रियों द्वारा अनुभव करना संभव नहीं है। किन्तु जब इंद्रियाँ श्रवण, कीर्तन, स्मरण और भगवान के चरणकमलों की पूजा आदि की विधि से शुद्ध हो जाती हैं, तो भगवान भक्ति के गुण की उन्नति के अनुपात में स्वयं को प्रकट करते हैं (ये यथा मां प्रपद्यन्ते)।

This sound vibration is not material, it is spiritual, and powerful beyond our conception. So it cannot be hindered in any way by something material; it surpasses all these material barriers. So you can know it that when you are chanting, you are also giving benefit to even the child in the womb

यह ध्वनि कंपन भौतिक नहीं, आध्यात्मिक है और हमारी कल्पना से परे शक्तिशाली है। इसलिए इसे किसी भी भौतिक चीज़ से बाधित नहीं किया जा सकता; यह इन सभी भौतिक बाधाओं को पार कर जाता है। इसलिए आप जान सकते हैं कि जब आप जप कर रहे होते हैं, तो आप गर्भ में पल रहे शिशु को भी लाभ पहुँचा रहे होते हैं।

Indeed, in all parts of the world, in every country where we preach the saṅkīrtana movement, we find that people very easily accept the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra without hesitation. The visible effect of this chanting is that the members of the Hare Kṛṣṇa movement, regardless of their backgrounds, all give up the four principles of sinful life and come to an elevated standard of devotion.

वास्तव में, विश्व के सभी भागों में, प्रत्येक देश में जहाँ हम संकीर्तन आंदोलन का प्रचार करते हैं, हम पाते हैं कि लोग बिना किसी हिचकिचाहट के हरे कृष्ण महामंत्र को सहजता से स्वीकार कर लेते हैं। इस जप का प्रत्यक्ष प्रभाव यह है कि हरे कृष्ण आंदोलन के सदस्य, चाहे उनकी पृष्ठभूमि कुछ भी हो, पापमय जीवन के चार सिद्धांतों को त्यागकर भक्ति के उच्च स्तर पर पहुँच जाते हैं।

This instruction to Arjuna is very important for all men engaged in material activities. The Lord does not say that one should give up his prescribed duties or engagements. One can continue them and at the same time think of Kṛṣṇa by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. This will free one from material contamination and engage the mind and intelligence in Kṛṣṇa. By chanting Kṛṣṇa’s names, one will be transferred to the supreme planet, Kṛṣṇaloka, without a doubt.

अर्जुन को दिया गया यह उपदेश भौतिक कार्यों में लगे सभी मनुष्यों के लिए अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। भगवान यह नहीं कहते कि व्यक्ति को अपने निर्धारित कर्तव्यों या दायित्वों का त्याग कर देना चाहिए। व्यक्ति उन्हें जारी रखते हुए, हरे कृष्ण का जप करके कृष्ण का चिंतन भी कर सकता है। इससे व्यक्ति भौतिक कल्मष से मुक्त होगा और मन व बुद्धि कृष्ण में लीन हो जाएगी। कृष्ण के नामों का जप करने से, निस्संदेह, व्यक्ति परम लोक, कृष्णलोक में स्थानांतरित हो जाएगा।

Certainly the chanting of 300,000 holy names of the Lord is wonderful. No ordinary person can chant so many names, nor should one artificially imitate Haridāsa Ṭhākura’s behavior. It is essential, however, that everyone fulfill a specific vow to chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra. Therefore we have prescribed in our Society that all our students must chant at least sixteen rounds daily.

निस्संदेह, भगवान के तीन लाख पवित्र नामों का जप अद्भुत है। कोई भी सामान्य व्यक्ति इतने नामों का जप नहीं कर सकता, न ही किसी को हरिदास ठाकुर के आचरण का कृत्रिम अनुकरण करना चाहिए। हालाँकि, यह आवश्यक है कि प्रत्येक व्यक्ति हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का जप करने का एक विशिष्ट व्रत पूरा करे। इसलिए हमने अपने समाज में यह निर्धारित किया है कि हमारे सभी छात्र प्रतिदिन कम से कम सोलह माला जप करें।

If we want to make progress in spiritual life we must have determination, we must endeavor with Bhaktinistha with faith in the association of devotees, hearing and chanting the glories of the lord, avoiding offenses, hearing and chanting sincerely we develop faith, faith in the process of bhakti.

यदि हम आध्यात्मिक जीवन में प्रगति करना चाहते हैं तो हमें दृढ़ संकल्प रखना होगा, हमें भक्तों की संगति में विश्वास के साथ भक्तिनिष्ठा के साथ प्रयास करना होगा, भगवान की महिमा का श्रवण और कीर्तन करना होगा, अपराधों से बचना होगा, ईमानदारी से श्रवण और कीर्तन करने से हममें भक्ति की प्रक्रिया में विश्वास, आस्था विकसित होती है।

In this Age of Kali the practical system of religion for everyone is the chanting of the name of Godhead. This was introduced in this age by Lord Caitanya. Bhakti-yoga actually begins with the chanting of the holy name, as confirmed by Madhvacharya in his commentary on the Mundaka Upanishad.

The devotional process of chanting, hearing, remembering, etc. (either all or some of them, or even one of them), can give us the desired result of associating with the Lord by discharging the transcendental loving service of the Lord in the above manner. Even the very sound of the holy name of Lord Kṛṣṇa or Rāma can at once surcharge the atmosphere spiritually.

जप, श्रवण, स्मरण आदि की भक्ति प्रक्रिया (या तो सभी या इनमें से कुछ, या इनमें से एक भी), हमें उपरोक्त तरीके से भगवान की दिव्य प्रेममयी सेवा करके भगवान की संगति का वांछित फल प्रदान कर सकती है। भगवान कृष्ण या राम के पवित्र नाम का उच्चारण मात्र भी वातावरण को आध्यात्मिक रूप से तुरंत जीवंत कर सकता है।

A diseased person needs both proper medicine and a proper diet, and therefore the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement supplies materially stricken people with the medicine of the chanting of the holy name, or the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, and the diet of prasādam.

Gurudeva! kabe mora sei dina ha’be mana sthira kari’, nirjane vasiyā,
kṛṣṇa-nāma gāba yabe saṁsāra-phukāra, kāṇe nā paśibe, deha-roga dūre rabe
O Gurudev! When will that day be mine, when I will steady my mind, reside in a solitary place, and chant Kṛṣṇa’s Name? Then all the cacophony of the material world will no longer enter my ears, and the disease of bodily consciousness will remain far away from me.

गुरुदेव! कबे मोरा सेई दिना हाबे मन स्थिर करि, निर्जने वसिया,
कृष्ण-नाम गाबा याबे संसार-फुकार, काणे ना पशिबे, देह-रोग दूरे रबे
हे गुरुदेव! वह दिन मेरा कब आएगा, जब मैं अपने मन को स्थिर करूँगा, एकांत में निवास करूँगा और कृष्ण का नाम जपूँगा? तब भौतिक संसार का सारा कोलाहल मेरे कानों में प्रवेश नहीं करेगा, और देह-चेतना का रोग मुझसे कोसों दूर रहेगा।

‘Hare kṛṣṇa’ bali’, gāhite gāhite, nayane bahibe lora dehete pulaka,
udita ha-ibe, premete karibe bhora

Chanting continuously, I will call out, “Hare Krṣṇa”, tears will flow from my eyes, the hair of my body will stand on end, and I will be overwhelmed with prema.

Krishna Consciousness gives us the opportunity of rendering service to Krishna, and this service attitude only can replace us on our original position. Please therefore, continue to chant faithfully, and Krishna will reveal Himself, by His Causeless Mercy, and you will know everything automatically.

कृष्णभावनामृत हमें कृष्ण की सेवा करने का अवसर प्रदान करता है, और यह सेवाभाव ही हमें हमारी मूल स्थिति पर पुनः स्थापित कर सकता है। अतः, कृपया निष्ठापूर्वक जप करते रहें, और कृष्ण अपनी अहैतुकी कृपा से स्वयं प्रकट होंगे, और आपको सब कुछ स्वतः ही ज्ञात हो जाएगा।

We must always remember that hearing and chanting are the basic principles of discharging devotional duties, and if they are properly performed there will follow the reactional ecstasy with signs of tears in the eyes and standing of the hairs on the body. These are natural consequences and are the preliminary symptoms of the bhāva stage, which occurs before one reaches the perfectional stage of prema, love of Godhead.

हमें सदैव स्मरण रखना चाहिए कि श्रवण और कीर्तन भक्ति-कर्तव्यों के निर्वहन के मूल सिद्धांत हैं, और यदि इनका उचित पालन किया जाए, तो प्रतिक्रियात्मक परमानंद अवश्य आएगा, जिसके लक्षण आँखों में आँसू और शरीर पर रोंगटे खड़े हो जाएँगे। ये स्वाभाविक परिणाम हैं और भाव अवस्था के प्रारंभिक लक्षण हैं, जो प्रेम, भगवद्प्रेम की पूर्णता अवस्था तक पहुँचने से पहले घटित होती है।

The advanced devotee who chants the holy name of the Lord in a perfectly offenseless manner and is friendly to everyone can actually relish the transcendental taste of glorifying the Lord. And the result of such realization is reflected in the cessation of all material desires, etc.

जो उन्नत भक्त पूर्णतः निश्छल भाव से भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप करता है और सभी के प्रति मैत्रीपूर्ण व्यवहार रखता है, वही वास्तव में भगवान की महिमा का दिव्य स्वाद चख सकता है। और ऐसी अनुभूति का परिणाम समस्त भौतिक इच्छाओं आदि की समाप्ति के रूप में परिलक्षित होता है।

In this age, the worship of the śālagrāma-śilā is not as important as the chanting of the holy name of the Lord. That is the injunction of the śāstra: harer nāma harer nāma harer nāmaiva kevalaṁ/ kalau nāsty eva nāsty eva nāsty eva gatir anyathā. Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī’s opinion is that by chanting the holy name offenselessly one becomes completely perfect.

इस युग में, शालग्राम-शिला की पूजा उतनी महत्वपूर्ण नहीं है जितनी कि भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप। यही शास्त्र का आदेश है: हरेर नाम हरेर नाम हरेर नामैव केवलं/ कलौ नास्त्य एव नास्त्य एव नास्त्य एव गतिर अन्यथा। श्रील जीव गोस्वामी का मत है कि पवित्र नाम का निष्पाप जप करने से व्यक्ति पूर्णतः सिद्ध हो जाता है।

One of the greatest bad is lethargy, laziness for Krishna consciousness or false pride. So everybody just fight against this lethargy and with great enthusiasm loudly chant the holy name Hare Krishna hare Krishna, Krishna, Krishna Hare, Hare/Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama, Rama Hare, Hare.

सबसे बड़ी बुराइयों में से एक है आलस्य, कृष्णभावनामृत के प्रति आलस्य या मिथ्या अभिमान। इसलिए सभी लोग इस आलस्य से लड़ें और पूरे उत्साह के साथ पवित्र नाम हरे कृष्ण हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण, कृष्ण हरे, हरे/हरे राम हरे राम, राम, राम हरे, हरे का उच्च स्वर में जप करें।

Prabhupada wanted us to study his books and really learn this philosophy; he wanted us to master the philosophy for our own sake and for the sake of others but at the same time he taught us we must always be in a spirit of the menial humble servant of the servant of the servant and in this way we can achieve perfection when we chant the holy name Hare Krishna hare Krishna, Krishna, Krishna Hare, Hare/Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama, Rama Hare, Hare.

In fact Srila Prabhupada has describe in many of his purport’s that really in our Krishna Consciousness movement we have no other business than chanting the holy name of the Lord, worshiping his beautiful form and serving his devotees in the process of chanting of holy names.

वास्तव में श्रील प्रभुपाद ने अपने अनेक तात्पर्यों में वर्णन किया है कि वास्तव में हमारे कृष्ण भावनामृत आंदोलन में हमारा भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप करने, उनके सुंदर रूप की पूजा करने तथा पवित्र नामों के जप की प्रक्रिया में उनके भक्तों की सेवा करने के अलावा कोई अन्य कार्य नहीं है।

anudina yena, tava nāma gāi, kramete kṛpāya tava
aparādha yā’be, nāme ruchi ha’be, āsvādiba nāmāsaba
As I constantly chant Your Name, my offences will gradually go away by Your mercy. I will attain taste for Your Name, and I will relish Your Name’s nectar

अनुदीन येन, तव नाम गाइ, क्रमेते कृपाय तव
अपराध या'बे, नामे रुचि हा'बे, आस्वादिबा नामसब
जैसे-जैसे मैं निरंतर आपका नाम जपता रहूँगा, आपकी कृपा से मेरे अपराध धीरे-धीरे दूर होते जाएँगे। मुझे आपके नाम का स्वाद मिलेगा, और मैं आपके नाम के अमृत का आस्वादन करूँगा।

Vraje kari’ vāsa, rāgānugā hañā, smaraṇa kīrtana kara
e nikhila kāla, karaha yāpana upadeśa-sāra dhara”
“Engage your tongue and mind in chanting and remembering Kṛṣṇa’s Names, Forms, Qualities, and Pastimes with great care, following the gradual process of development. (3) “Reside in Vraja, become a rāgānugā, and engage in remembrance and kīrtan. Spend all of your time in this way, and cherish this as the essence of all instruction.”

व्रजे करि वास, रागानुगा हना, स्मरण कीर्तन करा
ए निखिला कला, कराह यापन उपदेश-सार धारा
“अपनी जीभ और मन को कृष्ण के नामों, रूपों, गुणों और लीलाओं के कीर्तन और स्मरण में, क्रमिक विकास की प्रक्रिया का अनुसरण करते हुए, बड़ी सावधानी से लगाओ। (3) “व्रज में निवास करो, रागानुगा बनो, और स्मरण और कीर्तन में लग जाओ। अपना सारा समय इसी प्रकार व्यतीत करो, और इसे सभी शिक्षाओं का सार समझकर संजोओ।”

Krishna is the Supreme Enjoyer, and we are constitutionally to be enjoyed by Him, and when we revive this constitutional position where is no more Maya. Krishna consciousness gives us the opportunity of rendering service to Krishna, and this service attitude only can replace us on our original position. Please therefore, continue to chant faithfully, and Krishna will reveal Himself, by His Causeless Mercy, and you will know everything automatically.

कृष्ण परम भोक्ता हैं, और हमें स्वाभाविक रूप से उन्हीं के द्वारा भोगा जाना है, और जब हम इस स्वाभाविक स्थिति को पुनः प्राप्त कर लेते हैं, तो माया का अंत हो जाता है। कृष्णभावनामृत हमें कृष्ण की सेवा करने का अवसर प्रदान करता है, और केवल यही सेवाभाव हमें हमारी मूल स्थिति पर प्रतिस्थापित कर सकता है। अतः, कृपया श्रद्धापूर्वक जप करते रहें, और कृष्ण अपनी अहैतुकी कृपा से स्वयं प्रकट होंगे, और आपको स्वतः ही सब कुछ ज्ञात हो जाएगा।

There is a guarantee of money’s being returned if given in charity, regardless of the proportion. Similarly, a moment passed in the association of a pure devotee by hearing and chanting the transcendental messages of the Lord is a perfect guarantee for eternal life, for returning home, back to Godhead. Mad-dhāma gatvā punar janma na vidyate. In other words, a devotee of the Lord is guaranteed eternal life. A devotee’s old age or disease in the present life is but an impetus to such guaranteed eternal life.

दान में दिए गए धन की वापसी की गारंटी होती है, चाहे वह किसी भी अनुपात में दिया गया हो। इसी प्रकार, भगवान के दिव्य संदेशों को सुनने और कीर्तन करते हुए, एक शुद्ध भक्त की संगति में बिताया गया एक क्षण, शाश्वत जीवन, घर वापसी, भगवद्धाम की पूर्ण गारंटी है। मद-धाम गत्वा पुनर्जन्म न विद्यते। दूसरे शब्दों में, भगवान के भक्त को शाश्वत जीवन की गारंटी है। वर्तमान जीवन में भक्त का बुढ़ापा या रोग, ऐसे निश्चित शाश्वत जीवन के लिए एक प्रेरणा मात्र है।

These three words, namely Hare, Kṛṣṇa, and Rāma, are the transcendental seeds of the mahā-mantra. The chanting is a spiritual call for the Lord and His energy to give protection to the conditioned soul. This chanting is exactly like the genuine cry of a child for its mother’s presence. Mother Harā helps the devotee achieve the Lord Father’s grace, and the Lord reveals Himself to the devotee who chants this mantra sincerely.

"हर, कृष्ण और राम, ये तीन शब्द महामंत्र के दिव्य बीज हैं, और इनका जाप भगवान और उनकी आंतरिक ऊर्जा, हर, का बद्धजीव की रक्षा हेतु एक आध्यात्मिक आह्वान है। यह जाप बिल्कुल बच्चे द्वारा माँ के लिए की गई सच्ची पुकार के समान है। माँ हर, परमपिता हरि या कृष्ण की कृपा प्राप्त करने में सहायता करती हैं, और भगवान ऐसे सच्चे भक्त के समक्ष स्वयं प्रकट होते हैं।"

brahmānūcur nāma gṛṇanti ye te
“O my Lord! Persons who chant the holy names of Your Lordship are far, far advanced in spiritual life, even if born in families of dog-eaters. Such chanters have undoubtedly performed all kinds of austerities and sacrifices, bathed in all sacred places and finished all scriptural studies.”

ब्रह्मानुकुर नाम गृणन्ति ये ते
“हे मेरे प्रभु! जो लोग आपके पवित्र नामों का जप करते हैं, वे आध्यात्मिक जीवन में बहुत आगे बढ़ जाते हैं, भले ही उनका जन्म कुत्ते खाने वाले परिवारों में हुआ हो। ऐसे जप करने वालों ने निस्संदेह सभी प्रकार की तपस्या और यज्ञ किए हैं, सभी पवित्र स्थानों में स्नान किया है और सभी शास्त्रों का अध्ययन पूरा किया है।”

When Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu inquired from Haridāsa Ṭhākura how He was to benefit living entities other than humans, Śrīla Haridāsa Ṭhākura replied that the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra is so potent that if it is chanted loudly, everyone will benefit, including the lower species of life.

जब श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु ने हरिदास ठाकुर से पूछा कि वे मनुष्यों के अतिरिक्त अन्य जीवों का किस प्रकार कल्याण करें, तो श्रील हरिदास ठाकुर ने उत्तर दिया कि हरे कृष्ण महामंत्र इतना शक्तिशाली है कि यदि इसका उच्च स्वर में जप किया जाए, तो निम्न योनियों सहित सभी को लाभ होगा।

“One can chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking himself lower than the straw in the street. One should be more tolerant than a tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige, and should be ready to offer all respect to others. In such a state of mind one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly.”

"मन की विनम्रता में, स्वयं को सड़क के तिनके से भी तुच्छ समझते हुए, व्यक्ति भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप कर सकता है। उसे वृक्ष से भी अधिक सहनशील होना चाहिए, मिथ्या प्रतिष्ठा की भावना से रहित होना चाहिए, और दूसरों को पूरा सम्मान देने के लिए तत्पर होना चाहिए। ऐसी मनःस्थिति में व्यक्ति निरंतर भगवान के पवित्र नाम का जप कर सकता है।"

Everything will be all right, by Krishna's Grace; we are Krishna's property, but now we are seated in these bodies of maya, so it is sure that from time to time there will be disturbances—just like I am experiencing now. So don't worry about it, just go on chanting Hare Krishna and engage your energy for Krishna in the best way open to you.

कृष्ण की कृपा से सब ठीक हो जाएगा; हम कृष्ण की संपत्ति हैं, लेकिन अब हम माया के इन शरीरों में विराजमान हैं, इसलिए समय-समय पर व्यवधान आना निश्चित है—जैसा कि मैं अभी अनुभव कर रहा हूँ। इसलिए इसकी चिंता मत करो, बस हरे कृष्ण का जाप करते रहो और अपनी ऊर्जा को कृष्ण के लिए सर्वोत्तम तरीके से लगाओ।

Sri Krishna, His Name, Form, Entourage, Paraphernalia and Pastimes are not material; they are purely spiritual. Therefore, in the beginning they are not appreciated by our materially conditioned senses, but as we go on chanting Hare Krishna with service mood and attitude, the Name, Qualities, etc., become revealed as Reality.

श्रीकृष्ण, उनका नाम, रूप, परिवेश, साज-सज्जा और लीलाएँ भौतिक नहीं हैं; वे विशुद्ध आध्यात्मिक हैं। इसलिए, आरंभ में हमारी भौतिक रूप से बद्ध इंद्रियाँ उन्हें समझ नहीं पातीं, लेकिन जैसे-जैसे हम सेवाभाव और मनोभाव से हरे कृष्ण का जप करते हैं, नाम, गुण आदि वास्तविकता के रूप में प्रकट हो जाते हैं।

durdaiva āmāra, se nāme ādara, nā ha-ila, dayāmaya!
daśa aparādha, āmāra durdaiva, kemane ha-ibe kṣaya
Yet if I faithfully chant the Name every day, then, as sugar candy eradicates jaundice, so my taste for the Name will gradually develop, O Lord! My misfortune is that I have never had faith in the Name. O merciful Lord! How will the ten offences, my misfortune, be destroyed?

दुर्दैव अमर, से नामे अदार, ना ह-इल, दयामय!
दश अपराध, अमर दुर्दैव, केमने ह-इबे क्षय
फिर भी, यदि मैं प्रतिदिन श्रद्धापूर्वक नाम का जप करूँ, तो जैसे मिश्री पीलिया को दूर करती है, वैसे ही हे प्रभु, नाम के प्रति मेरी रुचि धीरे-धीरे विकसित होगी! मेरा दुर्भाग्य यह है कि मुझे नाम में कभी विश्वास नहीं रहा। हे दयालु प्रभु! मेरे दुर्भाग्य, दस अपराध, कैसे नष्ट होंगे?

When we speak of hearing and chanting, it means that not only should one chant and hear of the holy name of the Lord as Rāma, Kṛṣṇa (or systematically the sixteen names Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare), but one should also read and hear the Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in the association of devotees.

जब हम सुनने और कीर्तन करने की बात करते हैं, तो इसका अर्थ है कि हमें न केवल भगवान के पवित्र नाम राम, कृष्ण (या व्यवस्थित रूप से सोलह नाम हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे) का कीर्तन और श्रवण करना चाहिए, बल्कि हमें भक्तों की संगति में भगवद्गीता और श्रीमद्भागवतम् को भी पढ़ना और सुनना चाहिए।

In the second stage only, the stage of reflection, between the offensive and offenseless stages, one automatically attains the stage of emancipation. And in the offenseless stage, one actually enters into the kingdom of God, although physically he may apparently be within the material world. To attain the offenseless stage, one must be on guard in the following manner.

केवल दूसरी अवस्था में, जो चिंतन की अवस्था है, आक्रामक और निराग्रही अवस्थाओं के बीच, व्यक्ति स्वतः ही मुक्ति की अवस्था को प्राप्त कर लेता है। और निराग्रही अवस्था में, व्यक्ति वास्तव में ईश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करता है, भले ही वह भौतिक रूप से भौतिक जगत में ही क्यों न हो। निराग्रही अवस्था को प्राप्त करने के लिए, व्यक्ति को निम्नलिखित प्रकार से सावधान रहना चाहिए।

knowledge in Kṛṣṇa consciousness can be achieved by a faithful person who believes firmly in Kṛṣṇa. One is called a faithful man who thinks that simply by acting in Kṛṣṇa consciousness he can attain the highest perfection. This faith is attained by the discharge of devotional service and by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare, which cleanses one’s heart of all material dirt.

कृष्णभावनामृत का ज्ञान उस श्रद्धालु व्यक्ति द्वारा प्राप्त किया जा सकता है जो कृष्ण में दृढ़ विश्वास रखता है। वह व्यक्ति श्रद्धालु कहलाता है जो यह मानता है कि केवल कृष्णभावनामृत में कर्म करने से ही वह सर्वोच्च सिद्धि प्राप्त कर सकता है। यह विश्वास भक्ति सेवा के निर्वहन और हरे कृष्ण, हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण, हरे हरे/ हरे राम, हरे राम, राम राम, हरे हरे का जप करने से प्राप्त होता है, जो व्यक्ति के हृदय को सभी भौतिक मलों से शुद्ध करता है।

In every center of our institution, ISKCON, we have arranged for a love feast every Sunday, and when we actually see people come to our center, chant, dance, take prasādam, become jubilant and purchase books, we know that certainly Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu is always present in such transcendental activities, and He is very pleased and satisfied.

Also inform Jayananda I have received his letter and the difficulties of life may come as seasonal changes but we should not be disturbed by all those difficulties. Our process is to chant and that process will gradually clear everything in due course. There is nothing to be disrupted—you should go on with your work with enthusiasm and everything will be solved. We are on the sound footing of Krishna Consciousness.

जयानंद को यह भी बता देना कि मुझे उनका पत्र मिल गया है और जीवन की कठिनाइयाँ ऋतु परिवर्तन के रूप में आ सकती हैं, लेकिन हमें उन सभी कठिनाइयों से विचलित नहीं होना चाहिए। हमारी प्रक्रिया जप करने की है और वह प्रक्रिया समय के साथ धीरे-धीरे सब कुछ साफ़ कर देगी। कोई भी बाधा नहीं है—आपको उत्साह के साथ अपना काम करते रहना चाहिए और सब कुछ हल हो जाएगा। हम कृष्णभावनामृत के सुदृढ़ आधार पर हैं।

Devotees fear forgetting Krishna. They have the healthy fear of Maya because they know she is all powerful. If you don’t fear Maya unless you are Paramhamsa you will not attentively and strictly chant at least sixteen rounds every day. Yes, Srila Prabhupada said that, if you are not chanting at least rounds attentively everyday at any moment you will become victim to Maya.

भक्तों को कृष्ण को भूलने का डर रहता है। उन्हें माया का स्वस्थ भय है क्योंकि वे जानते हैं कि वह सर्वशक्तिमान है। यदि आप परमहंस न हों, तो माया से नहीं डरते, आप प्रतिदिन कम से कम सोलह माला ध्यानपूर्वक और सख्ती से जप नहीं करेंगे। हाँ, श्रील प्रभुपाद ने कहा था कि, यदि आप प्रतिदिन किसी भी समय कम से कम एक माला ध्यानपूर्वक जप नहीं करते हैं, तो आप माया के शिकार हो जाएँगे।

One who chants in that spirit, without offenses, is certainly elevated to the platform of understanding that the holy name and the Personality of Godhead are identical. To associate with the holy name and chant the holy name is to associate with the Personality of Godhead directly.

It is expected by all means that by discharging regulated devotional service one must manifest the change of heart. If there is no such change, the heart must be considered steel-framed, for it is not melted even when there is chanting of the holy name of the Lord.

Yes the Brhat Saman is meant for the demigods—devotees are demigods—but people are not so advanced that they can sing Brhat Saman so nicely in this age, therefore Hare Krsna Mantra is recommended to be chanted without diversion. You have already mentioned yajnanam Japaya jna'smi on the head of your letter, that the Hare Krsna Mantra is the best yajna sacrifice.

हाँ, बृहत् सामन देवताओं के लिए है—भक्त भी देवता ही हैं—लेकिन इस युग में लोग इतने उन्नत नहीं हैं कि बृहत् सामन को इतनी अच्छी तरह गा सकें, इसलिए हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का बिना किसी विकर्षण के जप करने की सलाह दी जाती है। आपने अपने पत्र के शीर्ष पर पहले ही "यज्ञनाम जपया ज्ञानस्मि" का उल्लेख किया है, कि हरे कृष्ण मंत्र सर्वश्रेष्ठ यज्ञ है।

By performance of yajña, the conditioned souls gradually become Kṛṣṇa conscious and become godly in all respects. In the Age of Kali, the saṅkīrtana-yajña (the chanting of the names of God) is recommended by the Vedic scriptures, and this transcendental system was introduced by Lord Caitanya for the deliverance of all men in this age.

As a result of chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, one makes such great advancement in spiritual life that simultaneously his material existence terminates and he receives love of Godhead. The holy name of Kṛṣṇa is so powerful that by chanting even one name, one very easily achieves these transcendental riches.

The neophytes, due to their being in the lower stage of devotional service, are invariably envious, so much so that they invent their own ways and means of devotional regulations without following the ācāryas. As such, even if they make a show of constantly chanting the holy name of the Lord, they cannot relish the transcendental taste of the holy name.

When Lord Caitanya was asked by a great Vedic scholar, Prakāśānanda Sarasvatī, why He, the Lord, was chanting the holy name of the Lord like a sentimentalist instead of studying Vedānta philosophy, the Lord replied that His spiritual master had found Him to be a great fool and thus asked Him to chant the holy name of Lord Kṛṣṇa. He did so, and became ecstatic like a madman.

Therefore we never want to stop chanting Hare Krishna”. “Kirtaniya sada Hari”-The goal of life is with every breath, with every heart beat our consciousness is in the glorification of Krishna’s name.

Bhakti-yoga may be perfectly administered without any mixture of karma and jñāna. As the unmixed sun ray is very forceful and is therefore called tīvra, similarly unmixed bhakti-yoga of hearing, chanting, etc., may be performed by one and all regardless of inner motive.

Regarding your last point that you shall try to learn the various literatures very carefully and present everywhere in classes and books, that is very good. This is a nice idea and if you can do it, it is great service and Krsna will bless you. I am sure you will be successful in this attempt, but don't forget to chant sixteen rounds regularly. then you will get spiritual strength more and more.

Sometimes Kṛṣṇa consciousness is misunderstood to be inertia, and one with such a misunderstanding often withdraws to a secluded place to become fully Kṛṣṇa conscious by chanting the holy name of Lord Kṛṣṇa. But without being trained in the philosophy of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, it is not advisable to chant the holy name of Kṛṣṇa in a secluded place, where one may acquire only cheap adoration from the innocent public.

In modern days, when the influence of Kali Age is so disturbing, practically everyone is untrained in this art of bodily exercise. Concentration of the mind is more easily attained in these days by the chanting of the holy name of the Lord. The results are more effective than those derived from the inner exercise of the life air.

आजकल, जब कलियुग का प्रभाव इतना कष्टदायक है, लगभग हर कोई शारीरिक व्यायाम की इस कला में अप्रशिक्षित है। इन दिनों भगवान के पवित्र नाम के जाप से मन की एकाग्रता अधिक आसानी से प्राप्त होती है। इसके परिणाम प्राण वायु के आंतरिक व्यायाम से प्राप्त परिणामों से कहीं अधिक प्रभावशाली होते हैं।

What do you expect to get ultimately in the end out of all this chanting of Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Ram Hare Ram, Ram Ram Hare Hare”. Srila Prabhupad said “the ultimate goal of what we expect in the end of our whole lifetime of chanting is to chant Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Ram Hare Ram, Ram Ram Hare Hare. Thats all.

हरे कृष्ण हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण हरे हरे, हरे राम हरे राम, राम राम हरे हरे के इस जप से अंततः आप क्या पाने की उम्मीद करते हैं? श्रील प्रभुपाद ने कहा, "हमारे पूरे जीवनकाल के जप के अंत में हम जो अपेक्षा करते हैं उसका अंतिम लक्ष्य हरे कृष्ण हरे कृष्ण, कृष्ण कृष्ण हरे हरे, हरे राम हरे राम, राम राम हरे हरे का जप करना है। बस इतना ही।

When one reaches the lotus feet of Lord Kṛṣṇa at Goloka Vṛndāvana, the watering process of hearing and reading, as also chanting of the holy name in the pure devotional stage, fructifies, and the fruits grown there in the form of love of God are tangibly tasted by the devotee, even though he is here in this material world.

जब कोई गोलोक वृन्दावन में भगवान कृष्ण के चरणकमलों तक पहुँचता है, तो श्रवण और पठन की सिंचन प्रक्रिया, तथा शुद्ध भक्ति अवस्था में पवित्र नाम का कीर्तन, फलित होता है, और वहाँ उत्पन्न भगवान के प्रेम रूपी फल को भक्त प्रत्यक्ष रूप से चखता है, भले ही वह इस भौतिक संसार में ही क्यों न हो।

We are all conditioned souls so we are affected by Maya, but if we sincerely chant and serve, our attachment for Krishna will be revived and we will no more have to come under this Maya. Eternally we will be serving the Lotus Feet of the Supreme Lord.

it is mentioned that one should constantly chant the holy name of the Lord after hearing it from authorities. This means that hearing from the authorities is the first essential. Hearing of the holy name gradually promotes one to the stage of hearing about His form, His attributes, His pastimes, and so on, and thus the necessity of the chanting of His glories develops successively.

ऐसा कहा गया है कि व्यक्ति को भगवान के पवित्र नाम को अधिकारियों से सुनकर उसका निरंतर जप करना चाहिए। इसका अर्थ है कि अधिकारियों से सुनना प्रथम आवश्यक है। पवित्र नाम का श्रवण धीरे-धीरे व्यक्ति को उनके स्वरूप, उनके गुणों, उनकी लीलाओं आदि के बारे में सुनने की अवस्था तक ले जाता है, और इस प्रकार उनकी महिमा के कीर्तन की आवश्यकता क्रमशः विकसित होती जाती है।

The devotees chant the holy name of the Lord offenselessly and never eat anything that is not first offered to the Lord. The functions of the tongue in devotional service are to chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra and eat prasādam that is offered to the Lord.

“O my Lord, a person who is chanting Your holy name, although born of a low family like that of a caṇḍāla [dog-eater], is situated on the highest platform of self-realization. Such a person must have performed all kinds of penances and sacrifices according to Vedic rituals and studied the Vedic literatures many, many times after taking his bath in all the holy places of pilgrimage. Such a person is considered to be the best of the Āryan family.”

"हे प्रभु, जो व्यक्ति आपके पवित्र नाम का जप करता है, वह चाण्डाल (कुत्ते खाने वाले) जैसे निम्न कुल में जन्म लेने पर भी आत्म-साक्षात्कार के सर्वोच्च पद पर आसीन होता है। ऐसे व्यक्ति ने वैदिक अनुष्ठानों के अनुसार सभी प्रकार के तप और यज्ञ किए होंगे और सभी तीर्थस्थानों में स्नान करके वैदिक साहित्य का अनेक बार अध्ययन किया होगा। ऐसा व्यक्ति आर्य कुल में सर्वश्रेष्ठ माना जाता है।"

Krishna is so infinitely merciful and kind that he is coming to reveal himself in such a way that is easy for us in our fallen condition to perfect and connect our consciousness in his remembrances by associating oneself with devotees, coming to temple and chanting the holy names.
